Penn State now 6-6 in conference play. How? No clue.

Not a knock at you:

Apparently it's happening because of a really good coaching hire.

It can happen, including with a guy that was not a big name. It's about great judgment by the hiring committee, fit, culture building, and running excellent practices and development to build skill, motivate effort, and enable in-game execution and buy-in.

Conference isn’t that good this year.    Teams 4-14 are all bunched together.    Bringing in successful guards through the portal.   Taking chances on guys that sat at high major teams benches has paid off.    Bringing the A-10 player of the year and Defensive player of the year with you when you get the job was big.

They are also going to be helped by having single plays against the top three in the Big Ten -- Purdue, Wisky, and Illinois.

And Nebraksa.  So only playing teams that are currently projected as tourney teams they only have to play once.    Unbalanced schedule at its finest.   The other side of that is they only got 4 opportunities against the top of the league to build a resume

im sure everyone remembers this one if you are older.  lol.   This was when IU was getting calls on the road.

I remember that game. It was in Penn State's old "arena" (being generous calling it that) that was teeny tiny. I was very surprised when IU struggled so much to beat them that game because PSU wasn't very good.

Yeah, but in Penn State’s case it’s not really about resume building.  Their non-conference SOS on Pom was 314 and they are just 12-11 overall.  With that kind of non conference and conference schedule, they’d probably need to be at least 16-7 to be in the conversation
