Butler should never have made the move to the Big East.  They will never be a competitive force.

I think they've lost their identity in the NIL era. They built a decent team from the portal a few seasons ago, and then some of those kids portaled again after the season for a pay raise elsewhere.

Would like to see them go back to their old model, recruit mostly in-state kids and develop them - basically Purdue-lite. If that's even possible anymore.

Jon Rothstein reporting that LSU is hiring Heath Schroyer from McNeese State as a senior administrator. He and LSU President Wade Rousse hired Will Wade at McNeese -- and will look to bring him back to Baton Rouge.

Wade is the pear-fect fit for that gig.

Luke Murray is reportedly close to a deal with Boston College.

Don’t I recall reports last spring that he turned down Xavier? But B.C. is the gig? There must have been some very, very solid assurances made there.

I have a friend who is in Baton Rouge and works in a senior position that is well connected at LSU. He told me today that Will Wade back to LSU is pretty much a  done deal and will be announced after April 1st.

Somewhere in the deep, dark basement of a Btown Banners coaching search thread, when Crean was fired I was on a bender promoting that Ronald Nored should have been a very high potential candidate for the IU job.

I was largely mocked for this take. Full disclosure; I liked also the Archie hire, but always thought Nored is a dude.

So... Let's go! Time to see if Nored is a great idea or just another guy.

I can understand Butler’s thinking here but I’m struggling to understand Nored’s. He’s built his entire coaching career on the NBA path. He’s really highly regarded and would have almost certainly gotten a HC job in the next couple of cycles, probably 3 at the outside. And he’s punting that to take what at this point is a pretty underwhelming college job.
To paraphrase Rob Richey in The West Wing, “Butler, boy, I don’t know.”

NC State must feel like West Virginia right now.  Of course, with a few more teeth.

Will Wade, Lane Kiffin and Kim Mulkey on the same campus at the same time. Just chew on that one for a minute.

NC State isn't playing right now, so why wait till next week unless they really need to talk him into it.

Just a guess: Will Wade's buyout at NC State is $5 million if he leaves for another job (such as LSU) on or before April 1, 2026, dropping to $3 million after that date.

Tough scene for NC St. assuming this happens.  They're obviously a pretty good bball school.  I guess this is what you get with Will.

They have the money seeing they had to pay a ton to Brian Kelly and do Kiffen's buyout.  That extra $2 million is pocket change after all that.

It's still $2M.  And if anything they've spent a lot of money so it's not a bad move to wait a week and save $2M.

I'm just presenting what the reason may be.  Folks can take it or leave it.

If they are needing to hit the portal, I take it that he has assistants lined up and already combing through it for either LSU or NC State.  If I were NC State and found out that they are leaving next week for some place else, they wouldn't be using my facilities or equipment for the next school.
