The same people who hated Knight, hate Dakich, and for much the same reason. Both were/are known to tell you like they see it, not how you perceive it. What Dakich did or didn't do in his time here as a player is irrelevant. It doesn't disqualify him from holding and stating his opinion, nor does it make his opinion any less valid. Even if Dakich is found to be hypocritical, it doesn't make his observations any less accurate. Crean's new found backbone with his players, (assuming for the moment he actually has developed one), still won't make him a great or even good coach. His teams will still lack cohesiveness, direction, execution and consistent drive. A back bone won't develop post players, make in game adjustments, or win a championship.

The only thing that may come out of his bullshitting is a delay in the inevitable.

I love coach Knight but can't stand Dakich. Listen to the two of them call a game. Knight comes at a game with no bias what so ever and points things out as constructive criticism whereas with Dakich its all criticism. Don't know if most people know but Dakich and Knight aren't on good terms at all so they definitely aren't the same type of person.

I would submit that as Hoosier fans/alum/supporters, our discussion should ALWAYS be about coaching abilities - Xs and Os, can he win, etc. All of this other crap about player issues and character issues should never be an issue at Indiana.

Maybe I have a pollyanna view, but we shouldn’t be talking about this stuff because this stuff should NEVER happen at Indiana.

Here's the thing in my opinion. What's done is done. Kids made mistakes. Crean has made his decision on punishments. Some agree, some don't. (I don't BTW) We all had a good rant. It's time to move on. Obsessing about this isn't going to solve anything. I'm not saying if you have a legitimate beef with Crean in the future keep quiet. Let's just not keep focusing on this week. God forbid this happens again, but if it does we can revisit. Until then, it's time for some on the court action!

This is one of the most intelligent things Ive heard someone say on here in a long time. If people just nit pick and look for something to go wrong or someone (Crean or players) to barely step out of line, of course they are going to find someone to complain about. Its time to watch some games and root on our team

I give Crean this season with a zero tolerance policy in effect...hey, if it was good enough for Knight then sure as hell its good enough for Crean...

You almost had me until you threw the Knight reference in.  Because Crean likes to choke, head butt, and kick players or intimidate anyone that lets him.  Got it.  Knight was a helluva coach but zero tolerance had a different meaning for him.  Now if one more kids fails a drug test, gets arrested, etc...then yeah, it's on Crean and he's gone, but you can't even call this an apples-to-apples situation here.  C'mon.

Knight had a lawyer from Indianapolis on retainer for these types of things. Players got drunk and did things under Knight, but he made sure it didn't get out and made sure the player paid for it. I mean, Knight recruited some of the players on Davis' teams and they weren't exactly model citizens.

Crean chokes, but not in the same way Knight did. (Sorry, that was too easy.) :)

UNTRUE. Knight and Dakich are Knight and Day different.

A person's opinion doesn't make them right or wrong. Their opinion, when contradicting many of their own actions, determines whether they are full or sh*t or not.

There he goes again. "You don’t get rid of Matt Roth for Peter Jurkin... or any one else".

Jakich just Scratched Peter Jurkin.

PJ verballed before Yogi, before Hollowell, before Hanner, before Cody, before anyone in the '13 class and before Everyone in '14 except James, but since he wasn't "good" he's the first name Jakich thought of to GET RID OF AND KEEP ROTH.

I would spell it out....You lose more than 50% of your games this season, you are out...One more kid gets arrested for drinking/pot/jaywalking this season, you are out....Substitute one more player who is on a hot streak for no apparent reason, you are out....We are on the phone with Cook getting that buy out and checking the couch cushions to get Stevens in here...

Good luck. Bill Cook died in 2011.

This is the third time Stan has screwed up and he got what is essentially a 2 game suspension.  I wouldn't call that much of a back bone, maybe a toothpick.

Crean is toast at IU whether he's gone tomorrow or after the end of the season. I just hope the administration is working their behinds off now to get the right person to replace him.

While I think he really should be, I have my doubts.

I agree 100% with all of this. I could listen to Knight call a game all day, I can't stand hearing Dakich call no matter who is playing. He picks clear favorite teams and is unbearable about them. Michigan or OSU v. Anyone last season was torture.

Clearly you haven't seen the work that the Astrology apartment has been doing with the Death Phone.
