barrettballer Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 By "force out" do you mean "picked Sudfeld as the starter"?...or..? Did you watch the cream and crimson game? Clearly Roberson won the job. He outplayed sudfeld all last year and he adds an element that Sudfeld can't, he can ACTUALLY run. I know sudfeld thinks he can scramble but he can't. Disappointed as IU fan to let the better QB walk out the door because of poor coaching decisions. Quote

I agree that Roberson was the better QB last year and at the spring game (which I was at and Tre outplayed Nate I thought). But, Wilson and the staff made their choice then Tre made his. That's hardly running someone off. Quote

In a general situation the person who has the best performance gets the job. Tre didn't want to waste the talent he had sitting behind sudfeld who had a mediocre season at best. Quote
TheWatShot Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Tre would probably provide more of a dual threat than anyone else, but every time this comes up I think back to him being absolutely wretched against Minnesota and the coaches sticking with him until it was 35-13. Part of the reason we failed to reach mediocrity and play in a bowl game. Quote

We agree on Tre's situation lol. He's better than Nate and I don't blame him for leaving. But I do not think that Wilson ran him off. Quote
FKfootball Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 If Roberson was here, we are sitting on 4 or 5 wins right now. I was at the Spring game. He was our #1! barrettballer 1 Quote

We can just agree to disagree about the ran off part lol because we are all same team and we all know we won't win another game unless we get more than 11 yards passing Quote

That isn't even close to being accurate. Could argue they were equally effective late in the year as well Quote
FKfootball Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 At least we still have Coleman Untill after the Purdue game. :/ Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 I hate to break it to you all, but if we don't have a big time change with QB play, we won't win another game this season. THAT includes PURDUE. They are playing much better with with Appleby. Quote
Dalton26 Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Where are all the posters crying about mean things being said about IU athletes or a coach? (It doesn't bother me if it's true just making a point, I actually agree with what's being said for the most part) It's funny how hypocritical some are. If you say a bad thing about a basketball player or Crean they lose their mind but any other player or coach is fine? The whole "you shouldn't say anything bad about a player or coach" crowd is laughable. Naturalhoosier, HoosierReb01, TheWatShot and 2 others 5 Quote

Could argue they were equally effective late in the year as well Roberson didn't get hardly any reps til the end of the season and the ones he did were usually qb run plays and the opposing defensive knew that he was gonna run so it didn't work. Roberson outplayed sudfeld by a lot down the backstretch of the season (see Michigan and Purdue games). In Michigan game sudfeld had one pass attempt and an interception. Quote

See the Minnesota game where he was absolutely atrocious and got outplayed by Sudfeld. Or the Penn State game where Sudfeld played well. Also, the reason Tre didn't play much early was because outside of the Missouri game he did nothing to deserve to be on the field above Sudfeld. In the two opening series of the Navy game again he was awful digging us into a hole. They both had their moments last year. Neither one of them clearly was better than the other last season HoosierReb01 and Naturalhoosier 2 Quote
bronkonagurski Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 While I absolutely do wish we still had Tre Roberson on our team, there is a lot of selective memory being expressed by some people here. He did not consistently out-perform Nate last year. Tre did have his moments and hot streaks. But he never was all that consistent at any time during his IU career. He had some great moments and flashes of promise for sure. I feel the same way about Nate, he has his moments but the consistency is not there. All this "oh yeah we would have 4-5 wins with Tre"......please. HoosierReb01, Naturalhoosier and HoosierAloha 3 Quote

Neither one of them clearly was better than the other last season How many passes did he throw against navy? Not enough to dig us into a hole and it was two drives. Maybe one or two passes and one was a dropped screen pass. Minnesota was a bad game I'll give you that. Penn state was the only game where I said "wow sudfeld played really well". Missouri game sudfeld played poorly they put in tre in the 4th and he gets two TDs. Tre played better all year. Quote
