The NBA can't void any trade. Teams can void them afterwards in case of medical findings. The NBA did that because they owned the team. Was the one and only reason. They didn't want the Lakers to have CP3. The NBA would be voiding more trades if that were the case. No way they would have let the Pacers trade away PG or let the Magic trade Howard.

The league can veto anything that may violate the salary cap or the CBA. The league could easily find something in almost any trade to veto it if they really wanted to, they could just say a trade violated the competitiveness/integrity of the league and veto it because that would violate the CBA. The Paul veto didnt even have anything to do with where he was going or who was coming back. The league did own the Hornets but the Veto had more to do with the GM working out the trade without prior permission from the league.

Jason Kidd to the Mavs took 3 attempts because first the league stepped in and said they couldnt trade George because of him re-signing under the CBA rules at the time under his bird rights, on the second attempt Stackhouse came out and said he would just get bought out and return to the Mavs and the league again stepped in and stopped the trade.(which is why that is now a rule in the CBA that a bought out player cant return to the team that traded him)

They absolutely would have allowed those two trades to happen, two teams got something for players that were going to leave instead of getting nothing. There is no way the league would've stepped in to veto those trades.

Why wouldn't the league step in on the Howard trade? Everyone knew what was going to happen. The Magic got Aarron Afflalo back. Everyone knew they would suck. How does that not hurt the competition and integrity of the game for the Magic to go from one of the top teams in the East to one of the worst? Philly went from being a fringe playoff team with Iggy to trash because after getting Bynum back in the trade. Or how about the league allowing the Nets to trade away their entire future(which they have rules to help that now) for KG and Pierce? The league steps in little. Dealings with the salary cap is obvious because money has to match up and teams know that. But they don't step in for competition. They knew exactly what they were doing by vetoing the Lakers trade and sending him to the Clippers.

Because like I already said, if they didnt trade him they wouldnt have got anything for him when he left in free agency. They would have been worse than what they were. They also got their current starting center and 2 first round draft picks in the Howard trade, while Howard is now on his 4th different team since leaving Orlando.

The 76ers is a horrible example because they had already started their tanking process, they got exactly what they wanted.

The Celtics trade was bad but got even worse because KG and PP didnt work out in Brooklyn. Those picks wouldnt have been that good if Brooklyn lived up to expectations that was expected when they made that trade. They have no rules to effect that trade now either, the rule says you cant trade first round picks in back to back seasons and Brooklyn didn't so it would still be allowed.

What would have changed for the Magic had Howard left for nothing. Not a thing outside of not having Afflalos contract to deal with. Same with any other team losing a star like Howard was at the time. If the Pacers kept PG and left, they would be in as good of a situation as they are now. The league did it for their own selfish reasons.

If nothing would’ve changed then why does it matter so much to you?

If you think losing PG for nothing instead of getting Vic would’ve been the same or better then I give up. Lol

It sucks that Draft Express got bought by ESPN and is behind their Insider pay wall now. Been told their user interface/friendliness isn't nearly as good on ESPN either

Such a shame. Those guys knew their stuff and their draft breakdowns were awesome. ESPN is trash and I refuse to pay for anything. Looking for other draft sites, haven't found anything yet.

LeBron is just gassed from carrying his team this far.  They really don't have another player on that team who would start for any of the other 3 teams left.  It's pretty amazing how far he has led them this season.  He'll have to find some extra juice just to keep the game close at home in an elimination game 6.  If he somehow wins that game and makes it to a game 7 there's no way he has enough energy to win it.  It would take him getting 50 to win the series.

Whoa Nelly!  Rockets take a 3-2 lead in the series with a 98-94 win over the Warriors.  EG with 24 pts. on 6-15 from the field; 3-10 on 3's and 9-10 FT's.   Rockets with 4 in double figures led by EG's 24; Paul 20; Harden 19 (but 0-11 on 3's); Capela 12.  The Warriors outshot the Rockets from the field and on 3's, but the Rockets made 27-32 FT's to the Warriors 20-23.

Could there be a Finals that doesn't include the teams from the previous 3 years?!

If people really think Durant has any fear of competing they need to stop watching basketball.

He took the path of least resistance by making the weakest superstar move in the history of sports. He's also incredibly insecure, evidenced by him created fake social media accounts to argue with middle schoolers on the Internet.

He had a superstar teammate and a championship contending team. A team good enough to go up 3-1 on the 73 win Warriors. Then he choked the last three games and lost the series. After that he joined up with the team that just sonned him. But hey, good for him. He got his ring. Deep down he knows it was cheap.

What Durant did was weak, but when lebron joined his two all star buddies in Miami was almost just as weak to me.

That's a completely different situation. Lebron didn't go join Boston's big 3 after they beat him. Miami won 47 games the previous year and got bounced 4-1 in the first round. Lebron never lost to Miami in the playoffs. Golden State won 73 games and beat Durant weeks before he joined them. Not even remotely similar, regardless of what the talking heads tell you.
