The difference between knowing what it takes to be a champion and thinking you know.

I do love me some Shaq, EJ, Kenny, and Chuck.  Those dudes seem to know they have a good gig and enjoy being around each other.  I bet it'd be a blast being on set with them.

Shaq absolutely gets it.  You don't necessarily have to have a good relationship with your head coach as long as you bust your backside for the team.

Exactly. You are supposed to be professionals. I hate my boss i still try my hardest.

You should repair a beoken relationship if you want the guy to sign another contract not give it his all on his current one.

I never hated any of my supervisors but didn't get along and disagreed with several.  That didn't effect how I worked or what I got done.  It only effected the number of expletives that came out of my mouth and the amount of "extra military rules and regulations" I had to read.

A good relationship with your coach/boss can make it more enjoyable but it shouldn't make you try harder or play better.

Why hasn't LeBron ever participated in the dunk competition or any other all-star weekend competitions?

He's not a dunk contest kind of dunker. It would've been cool to see, but there wasn't any upside to him doing it. If he wins, no big deal. That's what he was supposed to do. If he loses, he looks bad.

I haven't watched the dunk contest for years, tbh.

Why should he? There is absolutely no benefit to participating.

I get there is no benefit but why not do it for the fans?  Isn't that what it's all about?

I love watching the high flyers and dunk specialist but would prefer to watch the stars compete.

I’d much rather watch Aaron Gordon and Zach Lavine, two unreal dunkers, compete than the stars.

I am not saying the NBA dunk contest would be a good thing but he killed the burger boy one for sure. Kids don’t dunk like he did.

They're unreal dunkers and fun to watch.  Why aren't the stars competing though?  I'd like to see them bring professional dunkers in to compete too if we're just going for the "wow" factor.  It's not about that though...

I didn't think his dunks in the mcdonalds dunk contest were all that wild, personally. He jumps high and dunks them hard, but watching them now it's just kinda mehh. At least in the context of a dunk contest. He's more of a power dunker than a flashy one.

Excuse the awful quality lol.

Who is complaining about LeBron?  I'd like to see the stars compete in the all-STAR events.

You were...

How is the dunk contest not about the best dunkers in the NBA demonstrating their dunking skills?

So by asking why LeBron was never in the dunk contest was complaining...?

My preference, stop me if I'm complaining here, I'd like to see the next NBA stars competing in the dunk competition.  Zach LaVine is one hell of a dunker and was entertaining but meh as a basketball player.  Give me the Jayson Tatum, Merkelle Fultz, Donovan Mitchell's of the NBA to perform in the slam dunk competition.  Those are potential superstars that can dunk.

If we're going by just dunking I'd like to see some of the professional dunkers too.  Maybe have a competition for the NBA players and the professional dunkers and then have the winners face off?  I doubt we'll ever see that happen though because many NBA players would be afraid to lose and there wouldn't be any benefit for the NBA player.

I don't know how to explain this clearly, but reading all of your LeBron posts and statements like these just make it sound like you really dislike the NBA and the players.

There are very logical reasons for superstars to avoid the gimmicky All-Star weekend events like injury risk. Also, it's an opportunity for some of the "specialists" to showcase their unique talents.

The NBA versus professional dunkers is interesting, but I have a feeling the NBA will lose everytime since they aren't practicing trick dunks year round.

I think the NBA has become more and more about a business and less about the game of basketball.  It's been trending that way for years and it's frustrating to watch a good thing turn to what it has become because of $$$.  I still love watching certain teams (Spurs, Warriors, Celtics) and matchups because it's great basketball.  It's crazy that some of the best programs are run by great coaches with great systems but so many franchises give the players all the power then watch as they fail.

How many players have actually been injured in these events?  I know, one risk is far too great for the entertainment of the fans who spend all that money... greed.  Agreed, it's an opportunity for "specialists" to showcase their talents i.e. the guys who can jump really high but are afraid to compete against guys who do it all year.
