April still in boot.

Let him knock the nerves off and we may have a little extra rebounding presence hanging around. He definitely altered Se shots and that is as good as a block to me.

Agree---both April and Perea altered shots even when they did not get blocks!  Loved it!

What a surprise to see April on the floor!

I'm just happy that he looks nothing like our past center projects. He's a bit slow footed but showed nice soft hands and a good shooting touch. He also showed an actual ability to grab a rebound. I think by his junior year we can see a real contributor out there.

I really enjoyed seeing him in the game......and really enjoyed him getting a rebound. He IS going to contribute as long as he stays healthy. That is my only concern with him. He has the size, and he will bulk up. He will learn to use that size and disrupt down-low. If he stays and stays healthy, he will be a crowd pleaser like P-driller (i just came up with that one but it shouldn't stick. I like all the other names that MSB has

Coming off foot surgery you have to believe the foot speed can only get better.

He looks like hes strong in the lower body and should  be hard to move out of the post.Big space eater and nice anchor for a zone defense.

We need this guy to contribute and i believe he will as the season progresses.

I was wrong. He is definitely not a wasted project scholarship. April appears to have played bball for longer than 3 years where he was previously a soccer player.

What a relief that if anything, we now have somebody that takes up space down low and looks fairly strong for a freshman to just hold serve and alter shots so we can keep Perea out of foul trouble when he is faced against higher level big men. As soon as Perea becomes slower or less agile than the likes of big 10 centers he will start fouling more.

Good point----I hope his speed continues to improve as well.

I like what I saw in limited minutes.

I don't know yet how it will all work out but Crean definitely had a plan in recruiting this year and appears to have executed it well----shooting and bigs help with Holt (who we haven't even seen yet), April, and even Priller---Burton---and Hoetzel ---who seems to keep growing.

I find myself liking every player on the team this year from starters to role players to walkons!

All bring something to the table!

I dunno. It sure seemed like we missed on a lot of guys first.

One thing Crean has always had was a lot of recruiting energy so of the definite plan was to outwork everyone then maybe I can agree with you.

Agree 8bucks--that we did not get our first choice in some instances. But I think Crean salvaged the class with good kids who hustle and have certain strengths they can showcase while they try to develop other strengths

A fun group to watch and root for!.

Salvaged is a better description and yet it is still early. Rob and James are very good and I liked what Max can develop into if he works hard off the court. Really we may see Priller and Aprils flaws more against good competition but I would live to see us take those guys and become the skill that can develop 3 star bigs into legitimate bigs.

If Emmit can be like Devin then all the better.

Yes--can't wait to see Holt---8bucks. There has been a lot of buzz about him from those connected to the inside of IU BBall---and he is important because we need someone to back up Hanner against elite competition. It was going to be DD---but now we need someone else to step up and I hope it is Holt. That gives guys like Hoetzel and Priller and April more time to develop.
