LazOffTheBench Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 The day JaQuan Lyle becomes a Hoosier is the day I start taking a sabbatical from following IU basketball. Quote
Hutch89 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Lots of negativity towards Jaquan... But I guess I wasn't following too closely the first time around before he committed to Oregon. Can anyone give a good synopsis of what he has done and the issues surrounding him? It's hard to pick through all these posts to find a list of concrete details as to why he wouldn't be a good fit for iu. WayneFleekHoosier and schoosier 2 Quote

schoosier Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 For the doubters... If Shake decides against IU tomorrow...... Watch this......http://youtu.be/yuYjs-YhJa0 It's been a while since we've seen this kind of talent on a highlight video. Keep in mind this is against top competition. Oh and BTW, Thomas Bryant is a BEAST!!!!!! NHe's a really smooth player and stays under control. I'm impressed with his jumper, and he looks to have worked on this part of his game. Always knew the slashing and passing were tops. He's a hell of a talent and these highlights don't have much if any showboating. Sign him up and keep this Indiana kid home! It's hard to pick through all these posts to find a list of concrete details as to why he wouldn't be a good fit for iu. The kid has been very immature in both academics and the things that he has done off the court. Changed his mind on college several times indicating he has no idea what he wants in a program. Denied at Oregon. Trouble follows him and many posters have offered concern he just doesn't get it. He's very talented but at what cost? Hollowell wasn't half the distraction this kid is and we all saw how that ended up. Ron Patterson 2.0 ccgeneral 1 Quote
CampHoosier Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I don't like where this is heading. Let's get back on topic. I want more details about him enrolling in Spring and how this would work. Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Interesting stuff. To me---adding Lyle and Bryant would be much better than adding Lyle and Kasongo. (Lyle still concerns me) Someone refresh my memory---what's the past connection between Lyle and Bryant---they have played together correct? Something is definitely going on behind the scenes and if Shake says no----which we all think he will---then it will soon be revealed.. Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Never mind--found that Lyle and Bryant played together and dominated together at Huntington Prep---this new rumor could actually have legs! We shall see..... Quote

I'm just thinking out loud here, and I know this would never happen in a million years, BUT hypothetically what if CTC told him that if he really wants to be at IU he has to prove it by paying his own way and staying out of trouble until a scholly becomes available even if that is beyond next season. IF he came under those conditions it might help keep him focused and in line. Under this scenario, we get Lyle and not mess up next year's scholly numbers. Look, I know this will never happen so there is no need for 1,000 people telling me how stupid this is or it will never happen. I'm just thinking out loud and having some fun speculating on IU basketball stuff on my vacation. Hovadipo and Hutch89 2 Quote

With his previous actions, it doesn't seem to be the case. Someone will pick him up on full scholarship Parakeet Jones 1 Quote

DJ Candypants Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 If some of the issues could be resolved, I could see him having a year like Deron Williams had for the 2004 Illinois squad next season. The Hollowell comparison ends on the court. He could very well be a distraction to the team, but on the court he is stellar and very engaged unlike our friend Hollowell. Absolutely love his size and vision on the hardwood. If Crean can reign him in and keep him focussed off the court, I am all in. GloryDays 1 Quote
KingPG21 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 The day JaQuan Lyle becomes a Hoosier is the day I start taking a sabbatical from following IU basketball. Man, you usually don't take this hard a stance on a subject. Kind of weird to read. But I get where you're coming from Quote
Hutch89 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I'll trust the staff on this one and let them make the decision if Lyle is mature enough to play at IU. No doubt he has the skills, but I bet the staff is sick to death of off-court drama at this point. They'll make the right decision on whether to pursue Lyle any further or not. Sounds like he couldn't decide what school was best for HIM (in terms of basketball PT, exposure, etc.), and that's ok.. But what irks me the most is if he's had some really hideous academic trouble, then he's been misguided as a youth and took the easy way of only focusing on basketball. We'll see if him being excluded from the Oregon roster has woken him up to where he realizes that his dream of playing basketball might be in jeopardy if he doesn't get his act together. CampHoosier Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 If I were to ask him one question it would be this: You rushed the court after we beat UK. You talked extensively about your excitement for Indiana. What changed? I would ask Trey Lyles the same question but we all know the answer. The apple didn't fall far from the tree in that family. At least Trey can actually prove he played at UK rebelhoosier848891 and GloryDays 2 Quote
