(2015) SF Ogugua Anunoby to IU

Recommended Posts

Schoosier--I know many will disagree----but I do think we have recruited top tier D1 athletes this year. I am on record saying I think Z3 and Holt will be solid this year----and I like the situational shooting Priller brings and the developmental potential of a 7 foot April.  There should be no dispute over JBJ, RoJo, or Max.

I do agree with you that I will be ticked if I find out they are "run off" and replaced with the next-- new shiny thing. There was too much turnover last year and I don't want that to become the trend.

Back to OG---I wonder if Coach McClain assisted with his recruitment too.  We griped that McClain was not bringing us much with his past ties but suddenly---April/Juwan/OG/ and maybe Shake tells a different story.

Now if Martin helps us with Holt/ and maybe someone like Alkins or Maker---we start firing on all cylinders!

From Brian Snow:

Look for Anunoby to potentially be a redshirt candidate because his upside is so big, yet has very little experience playing at a high level both on the grassroots circuit and in high school.

If the improvement stays rapid like Anunoby showed during July then this could end up being a very good pickup for the Hoosiers despite him not being one of the more highly rated prospects in the country.

One of the more intriguing wings left on the board made his pick, and OG Anunoby is headed to the Big Ten.

Lots of encouraging news BUT Crean and Redshirt???? Yeah right, we know that won't happen. We need OG to develop big time this season. He apparently is pretty raw/inexperienced.

Understatement. We are at the top of the B1g in turnover rate in mens basketball on and off the court and not because of players leaving for the NBA. It comes from signing 6/7 new players every year and turning loose good quality upperclassmen for the next, new shiny player. We Pride ourselves as being different from UK yet we can't even have a senior night except for the cheerleaders and band. Disgraceful what IU has become.

You would consider Jeremy Hallowell and Austin Etherington as quality upperclassmen?

they can still bash it under the point of why sign priller and Hartman in the first place

Couldn't agree more. However, you can't complain about the program on one hand and then complain we should honor scholarships on the other. Is it right? No. But if we are going to start winning we all know who we need to get there. I hope these young men rpove me wrong, but it isn't looking good.

I would say this is a fair assessment. The recruits need to be vetted better and the scholarships should not be given out like Halloween candy if the staff fails on their top choices. I bet you could find some pretty decent students who would be more than happy to practice in exchange for choice seats or other legal favors. Just go to the hyper any day of the week. Great talent that decided against lower tier colleges play there weekly.

Hold on, your solution is to bring in people who play pick up in the Hyper?

Back on topic---an interesting fact about OG. Zach Osterman reports OG has an older brother named Chigbo who plays NFL football for the Tennessee Titans and who used to be a Colt. That's some major athleticism in that family!

DT on the Titans practice squad. Must be a big boy.

Rebel, we seem to agree on most everything except the definition of being "run off". I surmise Roth, Abell, Creek, Jurkin, and others were run off while Fisher fits into the other. Why would Fishers then be such a surprise and caught the staff off guard. You guessed it, they had no planning in it like the others. Next year will be more of the same just by his commits. Of course, these transfers will leave for more playing time, but the official statement by Crean like Fishers speak volume as to motivation.

Because Fishers happened while on Christmas break. The others happened after the season was over. We all expect there to be potential transfers at seasons end. Those DURING the season catch us all off guard.
