WayneFleekHoosier

(2015) SF Ogugua Anunoby to IU

Recommended Posts

Come on WayneFleek---you don't really think Hartman (I think you meant April) and Priller were the only Big guys willing to come to IU do you?

I could name about 10 right here in Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky who would die to play at a program like IU!

I think you are being overly cynical about them and overlooking their obvious strengths and specialties.  Yes---they need time to develop---but they are not exactly chopped liver either!

And most importantly---they are now Hoosiers!

It's the whole revolving door argument. I frankly don't care when lesser players transfer but many do. Recruiting kids that aren't as good as your walk ons is not a solid strategy IMO.

If he left schollies open/give them to walk ons, I would IMAGINE it would make recruiting easier. Plus, you get less negative recruiting from rivals.

The only recruits I have "wondered" about in Crean's tenure is Etherington, April, Hartman, and Priller. I also wished we had G. Harris over Patterson, but I'm not sure Harris would have been here in any circumstances.

I can explain Hartman. He peeked early, and didn't vastly improve.

I can explain Etherington. He was a big piece to getting Cody.

I can't explain April or Priller except they were the only Big guys willing to come to IU. Or Crean wanted a better "Bench Attitude" and recruited NICE guys who won't complain.

The reason you probably can't explain it is because Crean is the coach and you aren't hahah

wise guy eh?? Crean has made some wonderful choices as a Coach and some not so great decisions as a Coach. To this, we can all agree. I think it is FAIR as a FAN on a message board to discuss DECISIONS relating to the team in a fair and educated manner. To this, I have done.

You sir, have steered off course into personal remarks.

I have only been on here a short while and from day one people made personal remarks, I aint the first. You yourself made it personal with your post (calling the kettle black anyone?). I thought this place would be cool to come on and get some good IU discussion and news and instead its been pretty bad. Of course the team hasn't been the best team in the nation the last few years but we have a lot to be proud of and look forward to. Too much doom and gloom in this place

Watch the McGill and UQAM games. Seriously tell me he's not the most lost player on the court on either team.

Disagree.  McGill and UQAM had some "lost players" too.  Heck, I don't think he was the most "lost" Hoosier, but we'll see what the season brings.

There will definitely be a couple players transfer from this team.  It's what we do now.  Whether or not it's Priller...I guess we'll see.  I can't wait for the season to begin

Thank goodness--Kepner---you had me worried there for a moment!

Come join me in the Alamo---there aren't very many of us---but we'll try to hold the fort down for Priller and the boys!

(Did you catch that--Priller is from Texas and I went with the Alamo analogy!)   :D

I was doing a search on OG and found a pic of who I assume is his dad, same name.

Professor of business and finance at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.

I would think the business angle might help the Hoosiers.

I LOVE getting players from academically interested - squared away families.

I would say it is a good chance, how many unrelated Ogugua Anunobys can there be?  Perhaps it is a common name like John (Insert any common last name here) somewhere in the world. Lets lock this one up, he could be special in a couple of seasons.

First post! Love the site. Now lets get this season started already, I am ready to see the new and improved HP using that freakish vertical to deflate some egos.

Go Hoosiers!

Welcome! Bathroom is on the left. Leave your keys and posts related to thread titles at the door.

I know everyone hates the over sign situation and don't bite my head off but.. If we do sign 2-3 guys in this 15 class, does that put any pressure on say Troy or Yogi to feel any pressure at all like it's the right time to leave??
PS: I personally do not think either of them are close to ready, which isn't a knock on them at all.. Yogi's size is an NBA problem and Troy obviously has to improve shooting and defense

Nope. Puts absolutely no pressure on them. They will have a starting spot as long as they want to stay.

It puts pressure on the players who see no clearly defined role for themselves in the rotation and want to get semi-guaranteed minutes, ala Remy Abel.

Thanks for the input.. Probably could have phrased it better. Obviously they will have a starting spot as long as they want but if we do end up having 13-14 guys slated on our team and they do make an improvement (say projected late 1st-2nd) do they feel as if the overcrowding may be a problem?
