Interesting CTC Tweet

Not trying to start a flame war, I understand the point of his tweet and the solid logic behind it, just kind of hypocritical coming from the coach that takes no blame right? Practice what you preach coach.

PS: sorry in advance Mods... Delete if this thread gets too bad!

Sometimes I wonder why he has a Twitter at all. Stop "subtweeting" your players under the bus. If certain players aren't working out now, just sit them when the season starts. They'll get the message.

Nah...she wouldn't bash the son in public like that. That'd be pretty harsh.

Coaches use this tactic all the time though? Right? When I was in high school, my coach would subliminally talk about a player without using their names all the time in order to try and get more out of them. Granted that would be at team meetings and such.

It is effective because it makes the ones not going hard feel guilty  and go harder because they know the coach is talking about them and makes the ones that are going hard go even harder because they are afraid that the coach is talking about them.

I would take this as just some motivational or work ethic stuff as KellyHoosh was saying.  This is definitely a bit different than the others he's tweeted though, but same kind of shtick here IMO.

But, just to speculate... if he was getting at a certain player, who do you all think it would be?

Just to speculate, I'd say it is very likely a player that he expects to contribute.  That narrows it down.

I've seen video/vines etc. of Troy, Rojo, Blackmon, Yogi, Devin, Max.

Stan hangs with Troy and Devin a lot, I think they run together.

So, based on next to nothing, I'd say Hanner.  Although basketball4iu notes that Hanner has been looking much improved.

I'd just prefer, at least publicly, a more positive message. It's subtle, but "The players that puts in the time now, will be the players on the floor for us in March!". Or "If I can count on you in July, I can count on you in March!"

Current players aren't the only ones seeing these. Rip them behind close doors all you want, but publicly I think it's better to come off as a positive motivator.

He needs to act like a true fan and support the team. dws Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Anyone think maybe he could be subtweeting about last year? Could easily be that he's reflecting on players since removed.

Either way, speculation as to what he really could mean or who he may be referring to is dangerous. Coach has the program's and his players' best interests in mind, so I'm sure this isn't something meant as a jab.

Maybe basketball4iu can give us an update on how everyone is doing thus far so we don't have to speculate.

Here's another tweet from him along the same lines promoting team unity and collective responsibility. I care more about what's actually going on in practice though. Words are wind, and tweets mean even less.

@TomCrean: Players that let teammates slide, coast or cut corners are just as responsible for failure and losing as the they are. STAND UP for SUCCESS!
