NBA Draft: Noah Vonleh

Recommended Posts

The Kings would make a lot of sense. They suck at a major level at the power forward position, which he would presumably be asked to play. Also they wouldn't be asking him to be doing much of anything offensively early on with putting him next to Cousins, Rudy G., and Thomas.

Edited: For Rudy G's last name, lol

Both of these are old, esp. the BR one FYI

Whoops

Here's the updated Bleacher Report - they have him going #5 to Boston

Can't find a more recent Sporting News one... it looks like they just have one that they keep updating, with the most recent update coming 3/26

I've heard the same, just stating they are rumors as nothing has been confirmed on record.

True, just throwing out what I know. I also know he isn't very fond of Crean and that's putting it nicely

"Star" players associated with underachieving teams (Bracey Wright, Eric Gordon, Noah Vonleh), that choose to leave early before helping turn the team around, aren't doing themselves any favors if they want to be remembered as IU greats.

I'll semi-follow his career like I do with Gordon (much less than Cody/Vic), but this whole badmouthing Crean & the program thing could almost make me reconsider that...

Careful when grouping EJ in with those other guys. He's come back to campus since leaving and he watches/tweets about IU games all the time (even before his little bro was on the team).

A lot of people look at him as an IU great, more in the sense that he is an incredible in-state player who had 1 great year at IU before realizing his NBA dream.

I haven't heard any direct source saying Noah negatively recruited against Indiana.

If anything Crean has done this to himself because his offense is not focused on inside play. It takes an athletic skilled big like Cody to make it look like we even use a big at all. When Cody was here the team was way more mature as well. Noah unfortunately got here to a system that would only use him as an outside shot, and rebounder. Not his fault.

Bigs out there are seeing the writing on the wall. IU will get you in as a lottery pick if you come here as a highly skilled player to begin with.

As far as guards go, CTC can develop them, and it shows in that we have lots of talented guards and wings here.

I'm mentioning EJ simply for the fact that he was only around for 1 year, and when players are 1-and-done many fans don't feel like they've had time to build an affinity for that player.  His team also wasn't too successul, and although that definitely doesn't all fall on his shoulders, it doesn't leave as many warm & fuzzy feelings.

If it weren't for these rumors we're hearing about Noah after the fact, I'd consider EJ and Noah on the same level (great talents and great representatives of the University, but just a general feeling of "incomplete").

To be fair EJ left on unique circumstances

I'm with the group that doesn't care. Cody was team first and I NEVER got that impression with Vonleh. Cody was a great passer out of the post, maybe passed too much. Vic was just Vic, the best. Got the sense immediately that Vonleh was about Vonleh only. And the rumors seem to substantiate that.

I watched more of Cody than I did Vic except I did watch Vic during the summer and when they would play the Pacers I would have liked to have seen more from Cody at first I thought he looked uncomfortable on the floor and looked confused but I thought he got a little better as the season went on but he did really well during the summer league.

I was never an NBA fan but I decided that whichever team Vic went to I would become a fan of and start following. I keep up with him and his progress. Cody I check in on. Noah seemed to quit at the end of the year. I just didn't feel like he wanted to be a Hoosier by the end of it. I also understand he was hurting and needed to protect his draft stock. Different circumstances. I still appreciate that he picked IU.
