LIHoosier Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Holy Crap! Rickey's gonna be devastated when Rickey finds out about this. I was a kid when he played for the Yankees, he was my 2nd favorite player ever (behind Donnie Baseball). I tried to catch pop ups like he did with his glove smacking his leg after catching it, usually to no avail. Until COVID, the Old Timers played on Old Timers Day at Yankee Stadium and Rickey was still playing as if he was auditioning to get on an MLB team one last time. Man, this sucks. LamarCheeks Posted January 16 Posted January 16 How can you be Mr. Baseball and have a career batting average of .200 over 297 games? Well -- Bob Uecker was. Not sure anybody was a better jokester/storyteller. RIP. And because you sorta have to ... "Juuuuuuuust a bit outside." AZ Hoosier, kreigh8, Demo and 3 others 3 3 Quote

LamarCheeks Posted April 20 Posted April 20 So, this just happened in Houston -- Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN. Luis Arraez of the Padres was knocked cold. Was carted off the field after about a 15-minute delay. Obviously, there was no ill intent -- but what an incredibly stupid play by the Houston kid. If you're a second baseman covering first, you gotta figure out some way to stop -- maybe you slide into the bag. But you can't run through it like that. Good grief. The announcers were trying to cut him a break, saying it wasn't his fault and it wasn't avoidable. It was totally his fault and was completely avoidable. https://x.com/TalkinBaseball_/status/1914097293143195835 Quote

The only thing we could reason was that somehow the cubs winning the WS somehow broke both franchises because ever since both just are off their rockers OliviaPope40 and MemphisHoosier 2 Quote

It was a reckless, stupid play -- not a freak accident. That space belonged to the baserunner. No need for him to cross into it. Scotty R and Naturalhoosier 1 1 Quote
