Coach Johnson takes to Twitter

Recommended Posts

Coach Johnson shared some comments on Twitter today I thought should be shared here with all the posts and stories posted on here recently. As always with Twitter, read from the bottom up. No, he's saying the media has it wrong sometimes..

Ok. When did the media have it wrong this year? Are we considered "the media"? The only actual media reports of players transferring were from The Star, the Herald Times, and ITH. All based zero speculation and just gave facts.

I would if I thought I wouldn't just get another talking point. This is all jibberish. We love IU basketball  and want to see it succeed. Yet no one will explain to us, the fans, why this year happened like it did. Crean dodges questions better than someone from the Pentagon on Congressional Hill. Take some accountability, explain how you're going to improve from the consistent mistakes you made, and give us a plan for the future. Instead, we get tweets that literally mean nothing.

I would argue a public message board is a form on new media.  Things written on twitter and facebook both fall in the social media category.  It's a new age and the media is much more broad then the sources you just named.

Haha I thought that too , until he said it just hurts his media relationships... We don't have a relationship :)

C'mon 41. I heard you two get together and slam down beers and coeds at Nicks all the time.

His point is that instead of responding to every conspiracy theorist and naysayer in the public and in the media, the IU coaching staff and players are hard at work.

If you think that the coaching staff owes anyone a point by point accountability for every perceived mistake, you are sorely out of touch with reality.

The coaching staff knows that the past year was not a success. What they "owe" Hoosier Nation is their unfailing hard work toward making next season markedly better.

Coach Johnson has reached out to say that is exactly what they are doing.

When they consistently make the exact same mistakes every year, I think we are owed an explanation. I don't doubt they are working hard, but at what? Tell us what you're improving on. Tell us why next year won't be like this year. We pay the money. We have been here before them and will be here after them. Yes, I think we are owed more than some tweets that the media has it all wrong. This is coming from someone labeled as a "Crean Apologist" on just about every site but this one.

So you're saying you have multiple personality disorder?
I'm not sure what you're expecting that you haven't seen on this board.

Do you really expect a press release which says:
"Jeremy was suspended because he sulked and was regularly using weed"?
"Austin has a degree, got minutes and couldn't hit an outside shot, and didn't like some of the other guys on the team"?
"Johnny Marlin is Austin's best buddy and doesn't care for many of the returnees"?
"We were so pissed off at lack of focus that we braced the crap out of them in the locker room post-NIT announcement"?
"Noah is a great kid and a great teammate but he was in it for one year and grabbed the cash"?

Would that really satiate your curiosity?

SMH
No! We want to know EXACTLY what kind of workout regimens the guys are on, as well as there eating habits so we can correct any mistakes the coaching staff is making with them!

I have not in any post said I want an update on transfers. I really could care less why they left. Let's get on the same page before you start shaking your head. I'm asking for accountability about the season and explanations on improvements. Once again, don't care why anyone left as I really didn't care they left. I think instead of focusing our time on what media sit said what, why don't we have the coaches tell us about improvements. Why do we turn the ball over every game. Why can't we figure out a zone. What are the coaches doing to ensure a season like this season cannot and will not happen again. I want accountability, instead of blaming player progress. Again, let me be clear just in case I lost you, I don't care why anyone left and neither should the coaches. Why do they care what someone speculates if they know the truth? Talk about something with substance...like the season as a whole.
