It was minus 5 when we got out on the ice this morning, but the ice houses all have a pretty good heater in them. Two years ago it was -22 with 20 MPH winds while we were spearing and we wore coats inside the ice house. Today, I sat there in my IU fleece jacket. JaybobHoosier and HoosierAloha 2 Quote

jmsgws Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Day two of Sturgeon Spearing is in the books, and so far with the exception of the friends, and the Bloody Mary's it has been an abysmal season. Using cameras we have been able to see plenty of sign the sturgeon had been in the area. (they make a big hole in the mud when they eat. ) Plenty of the fly larvae they feast on in the mud. Just no sturgeon. In fact after 12 hours on the ice, we have seen exactly 3 minnows, 2 shad, 1 northern drum. It seems like we set up on the Saraha of the lake. Hardly any life has been visible. Oh well, most people aren't having any luck either. It is looking like the season will go a full three weekends. So I will get one more chance. ALASKA HOOSIER and HoosierAloha 2 Quote

Naturalhoosier Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Those exact words leave our mouths frequently during the season! hahaha They must be tops on all fisherman's list! We say that as well when we're fishing for fluke. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
JaybobHoosier Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Had to dig this one up. Anyone have much luck this year? With my baseball coachin schedule, I haven't been able to go at all this year. However, that's all about to change in a big way. Week long vacation at Table Rock Lake last week this month, and then my new subdivision (home closing July 1st) has a really nice small lake that's supposed to be very good fishing. Will mostly be doing bass and catfishing because of the season, but will still be a blast! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners HoosierAloha, IUsafety and mamasa 3 Quote

Popular Post Naturalhoosier Posted August 8, 2016 Popular Post Posted August 8, 2016 Fished about 3 miles out today. Fluke, seabass, skates, sea robins, and Porgies were hitting. Came back with 3 in the box though. 1 fluke and 2 Porgies. Here's a sea bass that by my calcs was a keeper and two of the Porgies. Had high hook today with 10-15, including the garbage fish. Naturalhoosier Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 What the hell is a "porgie"? Sent from my SM-G920V using BtownBanners mobile app My father in law knew but I had never heard of it. I saw the silver side as it neared the top of the water and thought it was a baby fluke. I then saw the colors along its top and had no idea what to think. I had to google it when I got home. I believe scupp or skupp is it's proper name. Sent from my XT1575 using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
