I've always thought he was a long shot for IU and I hope we haven't continued to throw lots of money from the recruiting budget into chasing after him.

Everyone who says he isn't ready for the NBA is correct. That said, I would still draft him VERY high. If you look at some of the late lottery picks, I would def take Thon and develop him for 3-4 years. I think he is a superstar eventually, no doubt in my mind

Just going off of draftexpress lottery. Who would you take him over? Their last three in the lottery are 13) Detonta Davis, 14) Ivan Rabb, and 15) Marquese Chriss. I'm not sure I would take him over any of those players but maybe over Skal at 10.

A little further down they have Sabonis at 19, Damian Jones at 21, Diamond Stone at 23, and Zimmerman at 26. I don't see a team picking him in the lottery but gambling on him later in the first round. It all depends on team needs and where they project his ceiling to be.

NBA scouts I've spoken to who have watched him extensively just don't see the incredible upside the internet claims Thon Maker possesses.

With Thon Maker's small hands, poor frame, average athleticism and feel for the game, ceiling seems to be that of a nice role player at best.

What will help Thon Maker achieve his full potential is the fact that he's a tireless worker, has a big time motor & has very high character.
