I don't think Wilkes needs that wow factor.  I think Wilkes needs to know he'll be surrounded with good teammates, a strong team that will contend, and, as pap posted above, an agreement he won't be playing or defending the post.  If those things can be worked out this weekend I feel pretty good about landing Wilkes.  If Wilkes believes he'll be playing/guarding the post I feel like we could possibly lose him.

Yeah, I get that too. As an 18 year old looking to be loved kid I could see the "wow" factor going a long way in addition to what you stated. I don't see why Crean/the staff would consider having him guard the post - doesn't play into his game at all. I'm sure he'll get a lot of interaction with the teammates as well over the next few days. The team seems very tight-knit so that should play well into what he's looking for as teammates.

If we get Wilkes and (waters) it's precisely the level of recruiting I expect at Indiana.

Wilkes 5 star
Smith mid-low 4 star.
Durham mid 3 star

Add
Waters high 4 star
Moore low 4 star high 3 star

That would be a very good class for Indiana.

Little scared about having 5 freshman on a 13 man roster though.

If 1 or 2 of those 5 are Priller/Gelon it softens the blow too. I fully expect Priller to be 1 as a graduate. Gelon, not likely, but maybe if necessary.

If everything falls into place to have those 5 freshman we wouldn't have 8 upperclassmen.  We would have 5 freshmen, 5 sophomore, and 3 upperclassmen.
