Alexis getting another year totally changes our outlook for 26-27, but in the more likely event that we need another body, are actually trying to win this thing and he’d like to play some post-grad summer ball, I think that’s a pretty good option all around. 

There’s also a chance that the tournament provides him some exposure to international leagues? I really know nothing about this event. It doesn’t appear the organizers do either.

Sam has been playing in the NBA Summer League. I would imagine that this is a way of having enough full size bodies in the absence of Yigi and Sokolov, so that we don’t have to play Ben Winker 10 mpg.

 Does anyone have any idea what to expect out of these games? Are they kind of glorified exhibitions? Is there a prize or consequence with regard to any of the national teams for winning?  
 

I’ll probably try and tune in to one of the games but I’m curious what everyone’s expectation is.

I imagine we’re on a collision course with Brazil, who beat Baylor last year in the gold medal game at the world games. Before we get to that, my expectation is every game will be pretty ugly. 

Valuable time together as a team, but this event is strange. Impossible to find results from previous editions.

Last year, Baylor turned out to be very similar in strength to our team, and in fact played us to the wire in the exhibition game. They beat India by about 60 in their first game, and then played 2 or 3 reasonably close games before losing to Brazil in the gold medal game.

Yeah. Same with the exhibition game that was played at Assembly Hall.  Lanes were wider at that as well

If you want to get a kick out of some comments in the Spanish go to the live feed right now.  They are showing handball on that channel and people are asking where the basketball game is. lol.   Games started at 2 today.   I’m imagining at 6 IU fans tuning in and they are showing field hockey. lol.    It said 122 were watching.  Curious to see what that number is when IU(USA) play

I am able to watch IU vs Peru on my smart phone by using Youtube FISU Live.  It does require hitting a subscribe button that is free.  Most of you probably know that already.

Yeah, I don't see the Chile vs Brazil game on there either so I am not too optimistic about IU showing up later.  Hope I'm wrong.

Brasil and Chile on now:

• I am one of 144 people that logged in to the stream.
• There are most definitely not 144 people in the stands.
• The play by play guy screams "PUNTO" every time a basket is scored.
• The Brazilian coach is kinda nuts. Throwing his arms in the air at dang near everything.
• The Brasil team really sucks.
• This tourney will help you cranky guys appreciate American refs. For instance, as I tuned in a Chilean kid was at the line to shoot a fre throw. Just before he starts his shooting motion a Brasilian player runs up to the side of the lane take an open spot for the rebound. No whistle.

Most importantly - be prepared - the feed is super buffered/glitchy.
