We need to get used to this. Hopefully he signs for IUFB. When a "committed" player is open for bid, that is no bueno. The upside? Jalen Brewster is technically committed to TTech but has since visited IU. Quote
skhoosier2 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Really have to wonder what is going on? Are these recruits using IUFB offers to get better offers or $$ or guaranteed playing time? It's head scratching that we keep losing recruits that 'commit' after winning the natty and having success with this staff for the last two years. In Cig we trust. Alot of negative talk out there though saying Cig still can't recruit hs. Kind of why I don't get excited about anyone that says they are coming until they sign and get on campus. Guaranteed Lettice on X will say IUFB cooled on him or something of the sort. He said that about Oglesby after it came out he's going to Kansas. Quote
Pagoda Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago Hmm... my $0.02 is just seems like college football recruiting. Very messy. I haven't heard the negative HS recruiting talk. Maybe I'm missing it... definitely possible. June/July is supposed to the bulk of our '27 class commits... so we'll see how it goes. The talent on campus has consistently been very good, so fingers crossed. skhoosier2 1 Quote

This guy committed to IU, IU then goes on to win the NC, and then he decommits a few months later? My guess is he got a better money offer somewhere and Cig said he wasnt paying. Cig still got him to commit, I dont think its a Cig can't recruit HS problem. I think some guys are more financially motivated than others and Cig has a limit on what he would pay a 4 star freshman guy like him. If a guy wants to decommit after last season because he may not be getting top dollar? Good luck elsewhere imo. Some freshman are going to be worth going over your limit for, but most aren't. skhoosier2, Hovadipo, rayl456 and 3 others 6 Quote

Agreed alot are bag chasing and playing time guarantees. Cig isn't giving that. Kind of what I was saying about getting the IU offer and seeing what other high level offers come their way. Feels like some are using us. Cig gets in early then the 'blue bloods' or 'bigger dogs' come sniffing and all of the sudden they leave for what they consider greener pastures. Alot of the talk about Cig not being able to recruit hs is coming from opposing fan bases that claim our success isn't sustainable because Cig is getting all of his players from the portal and can't keep hs players committed or get the higher rated hs recruit. HS recruiting is a long game. Just seems like you don't see alot of loyalty after committing these days. Quote

If he does indeed go to OSU it’s not as baffling as losing an Indiana target to Kansas. skhoosier2 1 Quote
Hoosierfan2017 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Cig’s messaging won’t resonate with everyone. Particularly with teenagers. We’ve seen what he can do with guys that it resonates with. Quote

If you’re talking about Torbert I’d be very surprised if his departure had anything to do with Cigs messaging but rather school$$ reaching out to him. Quote
