How many as a head college basketball coach?

(Not like the IU job) but probably more than one would rationally or irrationally think in given lower level (lack of better way to refer to it) circumstances and situations.  Parallels to how do people win a political office or end up in a lot of different jobs

So it would be a major, major step down in salary right? I mean I can get fired from my job and get another low paying job in a related field too, but it would suck and is not my choice. What they couldn't do is get another peer level job in the same field after failing. Their choices are severely diminished.

But 4 years...oh, right, that's just IU.

He definitely was on a downward trend and did nothing to deserve being retained.

Exactly.  The trend was bad, but still.

I actually deleted the post because I know a “well actually” post was coming about how he deserved to be fired and I realized I didn’t want to argue about it.

Yup, he was Texas’ Mike Davis. He had no chance to keep that job.
Put it on my tombstone: Never hire a guy under unusual circumstances that you wouldn’t hire under normal one’s.

Coaching Changes indicating that the Villanova board met to see where everyone was at in terms of a new coach and their leading target is Kevin Willard (Maryland).  Wouldn't seem like an easy get BUT apparently Maryland's AD is about to move on to the SMU job which could handicap Maryland in keeping Willard.

Wow. That is big. Seems like a lateral move on the surface.

Could simply be a matter of timing where Maryland is in a bit of transition bringing in a new AD and they aren't able to get their ducks in a row to counter what Villanova will offer.

Maybe Maryland can bring back Mark Turgeon.

I dont really get that move.  I would think Villanova could do better than Willard.

Better than Porter Moser; lol, who they were rumored to be going after.

Looks Willard is pretty much leveraging UMD to fund more basketball resources before their AD ditches. Guessing if they don’t meet his demands, he is gone.

Good answer by him, cool to hear some of these kind of details.

Apparently a civil war breaking out in the West Virginia search.....there are still Bob Huggins loyalists who won't accept anyone not associated with him in some way.  Sounds like Jerrod Calhoun is likely going to be the guy because he is going to be the only one that is accepted by the loyalists and the other side which just wants a good coach.

Nobody really wants to move as evidenced by all recent searches, it's up and comers, or reclamation projects.  That's why there was a serious freaking discussion about Brad Brownell
