Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB @ Iowa - Saturday, 01.11.25 @ 8:00 ET on Fox-TV

Can we stretch our winning streak to 6 games?  Iowa (11-4) (2-2) is 9-1 at home.  They average 90 ppg while holding their opponent to 78 ppg.  They shoot 51% / 39% / 69%.  They're not a strong rebounding team with their opponents holding a 5 reb/gm edge.  They have 3 players averaging double figures and 2 more at 9 ppg.  Cooper Koch, a freshman on the team, held an IU offer.  He's appeared in 10 games averaging 13 min/gm and 4.6 ppg.  IMO the answer to my opening question is no.

I'm sorry, I had to laugh at "holding their opponent to 78 ppg". That's 288th out of 364 D1 teams. Fran's teams have never "held" their opponents to anything. Not a shot at you at all, just found it humorous.

I'll let it go this time but if there's a second time.......................................  :farting_smiley:

Which is bad because our 3pt defense worries me.

While I get frustrated when I see some problems on switches on the perimeter, the fact is that our opponents are shooting 30% from three which puts us at the 51st spot.  And it's not that we are having opponents shoot more of them than normal -- we're right at the average three point shots against.

I do think that fans tend to be a little more critical of their own team because they can spot the problems that they have but I think those problems that we see are ones that are very common to everyone.

He generally plays good against us. He probably has had this game circled on his calendar.

He sure does. He was my #1 portal wish.  lol.  he's not having a phenomenal year as his shooting as been down a bit but the open looks we will give him will be like gimmes.  Hopefully our staff is prepared to eliminate/minimize the 3 ball.

Our perimeter D has been better. It used to be terrible, I think part of the thinking is tied to that.

The problem with “stats” is they don’t account for the teams we played vs the teams we will play.   I would expect the stats to trend worse as we get into the gauntlet we face the next few weeks.
