Oggyiu Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 I’m used to an after game thread. Since no one started one, thought I would. Not perfect by any means, but winning without Reneau means other guys stepped up. More outside scoring, which was good. Don’t know how we could have stopped Bailey. One man team for them. Gotta be better on the road. You guys have a good night. A win beats losing. HoosierHoopster, Demo, mamasa and 4 others 6 1 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Rebounding effort was good. Offensive contributions from a lot of different guys and was good to see the team finally knock down some threes. It was just a ten point home win against a Rutgers team without Harper but it was a game that IU controlled most of the way and it was accomplished without Reneau being available at all. LamarCheeks Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 A game thread and an after game thread? Just curious: Do we really need both? IMO -- makes it kinda difficult to determine where to read/post stuff ... Hollywood Mike Miranda and coonhounds 1 1 Quote
Dave from Dayton Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Reneau...how is he? Is it a recurring thing? 1st half was a riot. What happened in the 2nd half to change that? Whistles? Damn refs were worse than the weather will be in a couple of days. HoosierHoopster 1 Quote
Stuhoo Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Post game press conference: Woody pretty much confirms that Ballo was a disciplinary sit last game. Also? Coach Pickles sux. HoosierHoopster 1 Quote

Stuhoo Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Mack Mgbako. "We were all really scared when Malik went down... It's good that (Malik) is doing good right now." Excellent to hear. Anthony Lealtor, asked about offensive rebounding: "Early on in the game we kinda noticed they weren't boxing out." Ouch Coach Pickles. Ouch. Stuhoo Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Anthony Leal; when asked about the buzzer beater he sets the tone - go to the 4:10 mark. He's kinda awesome in this presser: WayneFleekHoosier and hoosierfan6157 1 1 Quote
mamasa Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Man, haven't seen a post game thread in ages!!! I actually enjoyed watching most of this game. Goode was my absolute least favorite at the beginning of the season, but he's definitely growing on me. FortWayneHoosier, Demo and Home Jersey 3 Quote

When that kid gets his handle cleaned up and a little sharper with his reads he’s a 25-30 pt scorer in the League. When a guy like that is making a bunch of tough looks you better not be giving up easy looks to the other guys. And they didn’t. I thought that was a solid effort. Also, really hope Reneau’s ok because as much as that game demonstrated that he and Ballo need to split more minutes than they share, it also showed you can’t play Hatton more than niche minutes at that level. He ran out of talent severely last night. Eagle’s Rug, Stuhoo, str8baller and 2 others 5 Quote
Home Jersey Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Great to hear MR is apparently doing okay. Hope we don’t rush him back - though I doubt it would happen, I’d love to see him come off the bench for reduced minutes over the next two or three games. Just to see how we play… and if it is successful, whether that’d open any eyes to not having any overlap at all for Reneau / Ballo moving forward. Probably not a coincidence we had one of our highest scoring outputs yesterday without them playing together the entire game. With a healthy Reneau as 6th man… could be dangerous. This roster has plenty of talent. Dave from Dayton and HoosierHoopster 2 Quote

But for him to be truly effective? That's only against Minnesota, or maybe Washington or Purdue's non-Kaufman-Renn bigs from here on out. Demo and Dave from Dayton 2 Quote

I love the reactions of the three referees: The one closest to the play? A standard "shot good" signal. The baseline ref, second closest to the play? No reaction at all - his partner has the call. Referee Jeffrey "High Knees" Anderson, farthest from the play? Big flourish like his guy just hit the Super Bowl game winning field goal. Dave from Dayton 1 Quote
OliviaPope40 Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 With Harper that likely becomes a whole different ball game. Rutgers front court is missing Cliff Omoruyi big loss for them. Home Jersey 1 Quote
str8baller Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 I always liked the little things leal did, but his bigger fans have won me over: need to get him consistent rotation mins. Should be doable if we’re gonna play small and split most of MRs ands Ballos mins. Home Jersey 1 Quote

Eagle’s Rug Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Ballo had a monster game. Goode’s shot was falling. We got good Rice this game. Good game for our so called transfer “mercenaries”. Not great from Carlyle again. Probably need to calm down on the Ballo just here for the money noise. He was everywhere including the floor. Home Jersey 1 Quote
