-Jay Wright missed the tournament his first 3 years

-So did Mike Krzyzewski

-Scott Drew didn’t win his first tournament game until year 7

-Tony Bennett missed the tournament 3 out of his first 4 years and didn’t win his first tournament game until year 5

What else you need?

No, that’s good!  That proves your point but that’s not the reason why most of us don’t like him as our coach, but good data nonetheless!

Someone clearly doesn't know what floor means ^^^^

I do but with how great this team and coach are, 22 wins is very weak. This is one of the greatest coaches ever so it's insulting that you have such low expectations that only 22 would be possible.

Nah, we know what floor is. We just see Woodson’s supporters intentionally setting a low floor so that expectations aren’t too high.

Exactly, and that cupcake non-conference schedule should help attain that floor level win total

22 wins is absolute worst case scenario ie the “floor”. Would entail a devastating injury or two, Rice/Carlyle not being anywhere near as good as advertised, and/or team never gelling together. 22 wins and a 6/7 seed would be a major disappointment. There’s 8-10 other teams in the country whose “floor” is 22 wins. That’s how good next years team is going to be.

Imagine getting caught up where the absolute worst case scenario is still comfortably making the tournament and still being expected to advance? What is wrong with you people?

Another person who doesn't know what floor means ^^^

And I'm not sure why you'd care either? You don't even root for the team to win and have stated on multiple occasions that you don't intend on tuning in this season.

Such a triggered bunch. Going to be a long and miserable winter for some.

For you, it’s a win/win for us!   If MW gets fired, we win!  If we win 25 games, finish top 2 in the B10, make at least the elite 8, we win!  Anything lower than the above and MW gets fired, you lose!  You guys will be the one’s to jump off the cliff if MW fails!  If if MW succeeds, we are the ones eating crow, which we will be happy to eat, but I want mine with honey mustard!  Look who is laughing now!!!  Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!!!  Get my gist!!!

I don't know how going through another miserable season could be a win for any IU fan.

I think it’s not for you and neither is this message board!  I’m fine.  I’ve been a fan of IU basketball much longer than many of the members on this board and I’ve never seen a coach pit fans against fans, but here we are!  IMO, this has all been created by our current coach MW.

The current best coach in college basketball, Dan Hurley, would have been fired based on this boards criteria for retention well before winning his first title. Through 4 years at UConn, Hurley had:

-two missed tournaments

-zero tournament wins

-both tournament losses to lower seeded teams

-highest conference finish of 3rd place

Jay Wright wouldn’t have made it here. Nor Scott Drew. Or Tony Bennet. Coach K would have been fired long before he ever saw national success.

You need more or do you get my gist?

Dan Hurley is a ridiculous comparison. Hurley took over in a worse spot than Woodson, but by year three he was clearly on the upswing. Years 3 and 4 he went 11-6, then 13-6 in the Big East. 7 and then 5 seed in the tourney. He was 49 years old. He would not have been fired at Indiana with that resume and it's absurd to suggest otherwise.

Two missed tourney’s and zero tournament wins through 4 seasons would have had our Charmin-soft posters heads exploding on here.
