If this is accurate…wow. Just wow.

Large wealthy donor base.  And at least when I attended. Indiana, Chicago Area and New York were where the students came from. So nobody is distracted too much by pro football at the moment.

It's not that IU fans (obviously including big dollar donors) don't care about football, it's that we haven't been given many reasons to care about football. Turnout to games has historically been pretty bad but when the team does well, attendance increases quickly. This year is a great example of that. Basically, the fanbase has just been waiting for a reason to care. If this is list is correct, it's just further evidence of that.

Not a big "film" guy, but I know some of you are. I have a question: Did Northern Illinois do anything special in stopping Riley Leonard from running that game? Or was it so early in the year ND didn't figure it out yet that their only way to win is for him to run the ball.

Reason I ask is that he had the 2nd most pass attemps all year against them. It was also by far his worst game running the football. He was only sacked twice that game. In fact, he ran the ball 11 times which is near the most attempts he's had all year. Not a coincidence they lost that game.

That is what this game will come down to. Can Indiana completely eliminate him from doing that. This is the kind of game I hope Indiana can score early and often...make them play without a lead.

My magic numbers are for him to have more than 25 passes this game and less than 3 yards a carry. If that can happen, I like Indiana's chances.

I don't believe that it's 100% accurate. For example, I think Oregon is probably way higher than 19th. I don't know how exactly they came up with this list, but it seems like a pretty good starting point at least. Even if we're top 20 that's pretty incredible.

This is my biggest concern for this game as well. I think we can play with them, but we haven’t been great with mobile QBs this season that can get outside the tackles. I want to say the Northwestern game we let their QB run all over us in the first half to keep things close. I don’t know if the college systems ever use a “spy” but hopefully our staff is planning something to keep him under control. I’d hate to see us waste good coverage by letting him out of the pocket consistently for first downs when we should be getting off the field.

We adjusted vs NW and after one drive adjusted with really great results against MSU.

I  don't remember us using a spy against either but I do remember Kamara, Carr, and Carpenter doing an outstanding job of containing after some early game challenges in doing so.

Here's a really simple answer without watching that game again. NIU has a really good defense. According to a bunch of different metrics. If they had a remotely competent offense they would've won a MAC title. And our defense is better. These 3 sites paint the picture:

ESPN SP+ if you have access.

They're in our neighborhood in havoc, success rates per play/drive/etc, but we're ahead in all facets. Notre Dame hasn't seen a defense like ours all year.

Very true. I'd argue they haven't seen an offense either like ours.

I'd say 10 for 29 yards or 12 for 33 yards and that is a win.
