Rabby says that OV is a women's recruit.

He also says that he's not feeling it with Hawthorne.

The OV is Emely Rodriquez on the women's side.

Would love to get Hawthorne.

It was reported she was visiting yesterday. I guess that info was wrong

I’d still say it’s notable Hawthorne followed two of our assistants today

Would fill a need and be one less spot to fill next spring so makes perfect sense.

Might be worth noting that last year under DeVries, West Virginia players over 6'8" averaged a total of 17 minutes per game.  The roster at IU heightwise mirrors it pretty well.

West Virginia's rotation:

6'3" 36 mpg

6'7" 35 mpg (only 8 games -- Tucker DeVries)

6'6" 30 mpg

6'8" 29 mpg

6'4" 27 mpg

6'8" 24 mpg

6'0" 19 mpg

6'11" 17 mpg

6'0" 13 mpg

Average height of those rotational players/minute is 6' 5.4"

That’s interesting info.
I’d find it more comforting if that small WV rotation (which was screwed out of the tourney) had finished better than 19-13 and 10-10 in conference (same conference record as Woody).

I’m in the camp that a big would be a nice addition but in any case am excited to see what a bunch of shooters can do on the floor together. Will be interesting, and hopefully fun, to watch.

we don't have mins for another big....

that team, even without Stone was a T25 team, until TDV went down. It's really not comparable to show both teams' conference records... and if so, show how they did in the Bahamas.

I don’t find 10-10 in conference all that exciting but whatever.

In any case DD definitely improved upon what he inherited at WV and I hope he does so at IU.

When a team loses their 1st/2nd best player and another Top 5 player? Hmm. ok

I brought all this info here when we hired DDV and others were saying Bailey was auto-playing the 4. It was obvious then what DDV valued.

And before Tucker D was hurt WV was really rolling.

Rabby is not always right, but if he’s willing to say he doesn’t feel good about it, that’s not great, it’s based on his sources and he does have sources.

I think he more sources with this staff than with Woodson, in the form of Adams and Johnson.

People can believe him or not, it doesn't matter to me. I'm just passing on what he's saying because he definitely has more sources than most or all of this board. It's his job, after all.

Or his grift.

He was a University mouthpiece for a while. He burned some bridges during the Woodson regime. (Who didn’t?) Will be interesting how he works with DeVries. And his relationship with Dolson. The Twitter army hates him.

KJ is a friend.  He’s not as locked in as he has been with previous staffs.  TBD how the new staff will use him.

Rabby as a mouthpiece trying to re-earn his access? Perhaps it’s as simple as set expectations low with the idea being you’ll over deliver… then we can still be active in the portal and if we land anyone, great, if we don’t… well, expectations were set.

And I appreciate Race pulling all the player heights / showing a comparison between both groups. That said, average height to me is not very informative. Last year’s team had 5 guys over 6’8, this year’s will have 3. I’ve gotten more comfortable with the idea of not having a true C (though I’d probably prefer one) but still think injuries are a concern in the front court.

In any case, very excited for next year regardless of how the roster fills out. Hawthorne would be a wonderful addition, though.
