I haven't gone back and looked but aren't there some issues with Bundalo that suggest he wouldn't be a DDV target?

His recruitment has been a little erratic, but if you believe 247 he received an offer from WVU after DDV was hired, so who knows.

I watched a lot of DeVries teams and just started looking at his defense tendencies. Was not much if any switching. They play a classic Packline. Extended more. They play gaps off the ball. Tag and trail on the guards/wings. They do go under screens at the key some depending on scouting(imho). They hard hedge some. I could be wrong but I’m going to bet they won’t switch much.

Betcha they do

Praise from lawyers should be taken with caution, but this is probably a good thing.

Agree 100%. There is only upside to having that reputation.

Idk maybe he makes some tweaks? In my opinion it doesn't make sense to build a team with a bunch of big wings that would be good at switching and then do no switching but who knows Im not the coach

I didn’t say he wouldn’t at all. He just doesn’t do it very much. They guard gaps and the ball hard. They also extend more than most packline teams.

As long as we don't have to hear anything about the nail, slot, rim crap I'm good with it.  I get sick thinking about it.  There are so many references I hope we don't hear again....

I bet not. I challenge everyone to go watch his teams.

Then he's a fool lol

You don't roll a lineup out like this and not utilize the ability to switch, which we will. Especially in transition, scramble situations.

Seems my goal of getting into the top 25 preseason on hype and roster assessment is a long shot now.  Hopfullly DeVries can surpass expectations and we start to be considered a top 25 program again at some point.

Really confusing post

Completely different staff. This one currently has no one on it with a defensive pedigree. I doubt much carries over from last years WVU team. With what we have, I'd play a lot of 3/2 zone and mix in box and 1, triangle and 2, match-up zone. The only place we have a really solid defender is at the point of attack.

Are you just throwing out names of defensive schemes to show how smart you are??jk

We have to earn that national respect and regardless of it being a new staff and roster, the last time IU was ranked preseason we ended the year terribly and became a laughing stock. The brand hasn’t recovered because that’s hardly a one-off over the past 25 years. I think we’ll enjoy exceeding preseason expectations for a change (hopefully). Year 2 we should expect to be T25 coming in, I’d think is fair.

Then we'd have to teach all of that in practice
