Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Do you honestly believe Woodson wants his legacy to be that he helped run our storied basketball program into the ground and that, as long as he’s well paid, he’s fine? Do you really not understand that he loves IU and all it did for him? Do you really not understand the same about Buckner, who’s been associated with the University for over 50 years? I get that people are disappointed that the program hasn’t elevated to a national level, but some of the stuff mentioned here is really outlandish and nonsensical. Woodson will either get things going or he’ll get pushed out. Why is that so difficult for people to comprehend?

You are completely missing everything and thus why I believe whole heartedly that you do work for IU.

Woodson will not get things going and that has been evident to anyone with a pulse. This goes back to the start of his tenure and only recently the Bahamas. When you don’t do the things you need to do to be great every day you will not succeed. Perfect practice makes perfect and he has gone about things in a half assed lazy, entitled manner from jump. That is never a recipe for success and it’s not a wait and see, it’s done and has been, we all just have to wait until the idiots in control say so.

find me one IU fan that is stoked for IU Baskebtall, one…   Stakeholders will notice when the fans stop showing up, it’s coming

Cal won a championship in Lexington and UK still knew when to cut him loose (many of their fans would say too slowly). Now they’re back in the top 5 after making a great hire. Must be nice having such competence in their administration and processes. Can’t believe I’m saying that about Kentucky.

Right.  Guys defending Crean, Miller and now Kentucky.  Who's up next Purdue?  LOL

The people who try to defend Mike and Quinn are not very persuasive at all.
Basketball gods, please bless us with a proper coach in Bloomington next season.
Quinn was a horrible coach. Woodson is a bad coach. Being great players was one thing but with these two it did not translate and money cannot fix that

The challenge with that is having the confidence in locking down the replacement. We thought Stevens would say “yes” when he had already made it clear he wasn’t interested. That created embarrassment and some internal blaming, all of which compromised the search for Miller’s replacement.

True. But as much as I want Woodson gone, and I question any power broker in place who  advocated for keeping him after last year, I still think firing him mid-season wouldn’t likely result in the optimal solution. Unless it’s Stevens.

I wasn’t onboard the Archie bandwagon.  And didn’t think it was a serious hire. But deep down I kinda sorta got the logic.  The Woodson hire was so absolutely stupid with not a single bit of sound reasoning.

Yeah, but there was consensus.  :)

I rest my case.

Then please stop responding if you can’t or won’t stick to the subject at hand. Not sure why anyone finds what I’ve said controversial.

Agree. If it got us a better coach, great. But the odds of that are long, at best.

Not propping him up in any way. I’ve already said I’d be shocked if he’s retained, and I wouldn’t oppose it unless he has great success this year. People see what they want, not what’s actually there.

Dude, you absolutely are propping him up with crap like he's better than Crean or more ready than Miller.  Just stop yourself.

So, fire him now? Who replaces him tomorrow? Who supports that (assistant coaches)? What prevents more than a few players from departing at the semester?

They will stay for the paycheck... a $5M payroll will not walk away from their meal ticket midseason.

There you go, playing moderator again...

I honestly question your agenda here... you blew in last spring to defend Woodson, Buckner et al... then disappear for 5 or 6 months... until the HH podcast dropped setting Woodson's coaching and demeanor on fire and "poof" here you are again trying to prop up Woodson again... can't tell me there isn't an attempt to spin the narrative here.

I didn’t defend anyone last Spring, I merely shared with people the fact that there was not an internal groundswell to dismiss Woodson, in spite of our performance. People pushed back on that and criticized me, but I was completely accurate. I explained how and why decisions were made on such matters and, though people took issue with it, I was right. I jumped in today because people were calling for Woodson to be fired now and I said that wouldn’t happen, and why. Later, rinse, repeat.
