Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Mike Woodson is ruining our basketball program. Removing him now allows the healing process to begin. Keeping him through the end of the season just prolongs the inevitable and subjects the program to more embarrassment, neglect and ridicule. 

Woodson is so delusional he probably still thinks he is doing his job. And quinn and his sidekick ferguson probably think he is also doing great.

Look, at this point the season is over one way or another. If the admin thinks that it is more advantageous to allow a program legend to finish the season so be it. Personally, I think the potential for two blowouts to your main rival, continued booing and toxicity surrounding the program, probably open cheering for Dusty to replace CMW during the UM game, and booing during senior night make it a better decision to move now. I'd also like to see what a real coach could do with all the talent we have. But like I said, it really doesn't matter when it happens (and it WILL happen).  

What I really, really need to know is that the admin is smart enough to start back channeling now. A lot of the hot names are going to start taking new deals, I would hope that Dolson is getting his list ready and finding a way to gauge interest.

I wish they could just announce that Woodson was "retiring" at the end of the season.  Then everyone would know that we are moving on and people wouldn't have to root for the team to lose during the final 10 games.

It signals that IU is serious about basketball and allows them to more aggressively pursue candidates with legitimate interest.

It demonstrates the IU admin has standards they expect to meet and won't simply ignore the fans they financially rely on. 

Crowd didn't seem horrible during the game vs Maryland until the last few seconds. Still don't see how it shows they are not serious of basketball if you don't fire him mid season. Also how many college coaches get fired mid season in the first place especially one with a winning record.

If we can discern nothing else about Kathy, we at least know her favorite pastime is Rick rolling people on this thread. Comes in, trolls through a thinly veiled guise of "damage control lingo that us visceral knee jerk not true fans can't comprehend" and then disappearing before popping back up just to say "I told ya so". And that she's consistent with it lol

She's telling you right now that he's gone at the end of the season so you don't have to root for the team to lose. It's already been decided, it's just not going to be officially announced until the conclusion of the season.

I don't buy that at all. All I care about is the future of this  program and firing him now or at the end of the season won't change a thing.

It was his issue in HS as well.  Went to the midrange way too much.

Firing him midseason gives the program a chance to move on from a coach they clearly isn’t the right fit.   Team is still talented enough to make a run and  if it was the coach that was holding them back.  It would give the program a chance to salvage the season for the players.   Not happening but that would be the good I see.

Opposing team fans are making signs and chanting for us to keep Mike Woodson. 

He has a winning record overall, 5-5 in conference play.

Jim Larranaga took Miami to a F4 not long ago and was retired at the start of the season. 

We're not serious in the slightest way. We like internal politics too much at IU to get stuff done.

I understand that but most fans don't read message boards.  They could save themselves from the "Fire Woodson" chants at every home game the rest of the season if they just announced publicly that he is moving on after the Big Ten Tournament.

When Dusty comes to town, Dolson will easily be able to to gauge interest ... booing the Parasite King and cheering the Future King.

IU is not going to officially interview any single candidate currently under contract until the end of the regular season regardless if Mike Woodson is fired today, tomorrow, or at the conclusion of the regular season.

Need to announce it now to calm things down.  By waiting until the season is over you’re leaving the door open for something very bad to happen.  Will it?  Probably not.  But why wait if you know he’s gone?  That is malpractice to the highest degree.

Our basketball program is a five alarm tire fire with no future right now.

Scott and the powers the be are working on the coaching change, there is no way they cannot be.

Only question is when Mike gets fired, mid or end of season.  Probably end.

Yeah, he has a winning record at this point... at least on paper. He's 14-7 against a preseason full of cupcakes... lost 2 against B4A... and 5-5 against what's is largely the B1G bottom feeders... and it's about to get real.
