I wonder how the King of Indiana feels about the football team getting all the love and attention.

Hopefully it burns his @$$. Cignetti has done his job. Woodson has only said that he has.

He ought to be embarrassed, but his is ego is too big to grasp the truth.

I won’t openly root for us to lose.

But, honestly, I don’t believe that I’ll have to root to see the disappointment we know is coming. There is no way with the talent that is on this roster that we shouldn’t have a good year. But we’ve seen this movie before and it doesn’t have the ending any of us want.

Just seeing the play from Atlantis told you everything you need to know about how good of a collegiate coach Mike Woodson is. Even in the win over Providence, you could see it wasn’t a matter of us shutting them down on defense, it was a matter of them missing good wide open shots - especially from three point range. Good teams will exploit the crap out of that, especially in the Big 10.

Every B10 team I’ve watched this year seems to shoot the 3 pretty well and I believe you are correct on that assessment!  We allow way too many open 3’s and there are way too many good coaches in the B10 and that will exploit that.  As always, MW will get out-coached and that, along with finishing in the middle of the B10, will be his undoing because you can invest that amount of money on team just to finish in the middle of the pack and either barely making the tournament or not making, he will be out!  From what I’ve seen so far this year, this team will underachieve because they are under coached and I do not have any confidence that MW will be able to right the ship because his work ethic is lazy!  The season will be a giant disappointment and that I am confident about!

The real bummer in all of this is MW, Armond Hill, Randy Whitman, QB, and many others will be laughing all the way to the bank!

Honestly curious: what needs to happen for Buckner to leave? Will we know by a certain date if he is or isn't running for another term? How does that work, is he elected to his position or appointed?

His Chairmanship is over summer 2025.  Some chatter he will retire from the board too.

Woodson clearly just needs more time. He didn't even know Indiana such such a problematic hump, no way he can figure out how to get over it in 4 years.

Agree wholeheartedly!

I think Woodson's got about 45% chance to reach Sweet 16 before he reaches 70.

We need to lose tomorrow. The tank must start strong in conference play before we go back to play the schools of the deaf and blind.

I don't believe that Woodson is the right guy, but I can't root against us.  I'll root for IU and hope that I'm wrong about Woodson or that our talent is good enough to overcome his deficiencies.  If Woodson loses winnable games or get beats soundly by similar talent, I'll continue to add my voice to the Fire Woodson chorus.

My biggest concern is that the expectations for Woodson's continued employment are so low that we'll have to continue suffering his mediocrity.  There seems to be enough IU fans (and donors) that are content with finishing in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten and barely making the NCAA Tournament.

Based on our talent, I expect IU to finish at least top 4 in the new 18 team Big Ten; be ranked in the top 12-15 nationally; get no worse than a 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament; and make the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. If Woodson fails to meet these goals, we need a coaching change.

Hopefully he will retire from Pacer broadcasts too. I don't know which position I dislike him more in!

Maybe not celebrating but your own quote seems pretty close to that

“Michigan 2-0 in conference now. So glad we bought a team instead of getting dusty!”

Again, and this seems to be a difficult concept to understand, but I’m NOT defending Woody but rather stating that we would not be happy with a 2 point home win against Iowa. Not sure why that is debatable/controversial.

I’m not sure I agree. Any wins in conference are appreciated.

We do but if the donor checks get written again he won't be going anywhere. He thinks going 20-13 is doing his job with a 6 million dollar team.

We passed the time for a coaching change. We've reached 'launch from the nearest cannon' stage.

Be prepared to continue adding!  Woodson will continue to be out-coached.  The difference between the other B10 coaches and MW, they are used to working hard and the most mediocre team in the B10 will beat us because they have a better coach, who works much harder than him and will prepare a game plan that will exploit our flaws and this will happen about 4-5 games!  Trust me, he’s mediocre Mike for a reason!

Definitely the IU BoT. His Pacer gig doesn't affect me in any way/shape/form here in Arizona... but his actions regarding The Mediocre One has most definitely harshed my mellow.

That's kind of the point. These guys ponied up several million dollars to augment what the NIL cartels were providing... and they got Woodson the talent... but they cannot be happy to see what he's done with the talent... it just doesn't make sense for them to keep throwing their good money away on an arrogant fool who thinks he's the King of Indiana.

Didn't make sense to do it last season, but here we are. Rich people are quite capable of spending money in stupid ways.

You could be right but let’s see what happens if we win a BT game at home by 2. I doubt it will be a celebration but perhaps it will be if the opponent is someone like PU.
