Indiana would be pretty dumb to just keep Woody around another 2-3 years instead of going for the who knows with May. Woody is just a temporary guy. Basically an interim. He doesn't need to last past 5 or 6 years unless he's put Indiana on the level of Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, Zona etc.

The timing never seems to work out for us. No doubt somebody will hire may after this season though.

Indiana would be pretty dumb to just keep Woody around another 2-3 years instead of going for the who knows with May. Woody is just a temporary guy. Basically an interim. He doesn't need to last past 5 or 6 years unless he's put Indiana on the level of Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, Zona etc.

Yep I expected three years if he was indeed filler guy.

Timing is always just a convenient excuse for our completely inept administration.  Any other school would make it work.

Yep. Kansas hired Self away from Illinois. UNC hired Williams away from Kansas. Kentucky hired Calipari away from Memphis and before him Gillespie from Texas A&M, Tubby Smith from Georgia.

After making the tournament in his first 2 seasons, with a possible 3rd, would you really move on from Woodson if he weren’t ready to hang up his whistle? That seems like a possible ugly divorce scenario

So May has had 1 good NCAA run and is so far having a good season but if he didn't have an IU connection would you and a few others still be drooling over him and panicking that another school might hire him first? See above if he is hired somewhere else first.

And the ugly divorce scenario is the absolute last thing this program needs. The next coach needs to be coming into a stable situation with everything he needs for success, mainly so he doesn't get a built-in excuse of needing time to fix things. If we push Woodson out the door and it gets ugly, then we've basically wasted three more years.

He built FAU’s program from basically nothing.  Improved every year he’s been there.  Dominated in the regular season last year and did even better in the tournament.  Took a mid major to the Final Four.  And he’s proving this year that last year was no fluke.

Crean?  Marquette was a good program when he got there and he maintained it.  Had one good tournament run and underachieved in the tournament the rest of his tenure there.

Archie?  Change Crean and Marquette to Miller and Dayton and put ditto marks.

I would argue that if May has another good tournament run this year he is a better candidate than Brad Stevens.  Butler was an established, good program.  FAU was nothing.  There’d really be no comparison to what May has done.

No need for an ugly divorce. Indiana has to make moves that suit it best down the road. Not what suits Woodson best for the next few years.
