Game Thread: Indiana vs. Arizona (12/10) 7:30 p.m. EST on Fox

Recommended Posts

I'm a pretty positive guy about this team. I wasn't overly worried after the Rutgers game. That being said, I don't feel good about this game, especially if Hood-Schifino is out/limited. Arizona's 4 and 5 guys are pretty freaking good. Going to have to hit shots to win this game. If our bench guys bring it they will most certainly have a chance. But if it turns into our starting 5 vs theirs...it'll be ugly. Someone talk me down..lol. I still like this team don't get me wrong. I just think Arizona is good. They really impressed me in the Maui tournament. One of the best teams I've watched all year. However, like UNC, they aren't a deep team at all.

Are you OK? This is a safe space. You've been pretty down the last week with IU, whether it's football or basketball. Is there anything you need to tell us?

I'm just being real about it. They exact pieces that hurt us. Tall and talented bigs. TJDs weakness.

And I've not been down any about basketball. Football yea but that isn't difficult. They suck. But I'm happy all the players are leaving.

I don't think you are off. This is the kind of game IU needs to win for me to think they can consitently beat teams that have talented bigs. They have two REALLY good ones in Tubelis and Ballo. I trust Trayce. Will Race and Malik step up?

I'm hanging my hat on they haven't faced a defense like we're going to play. We're going to lock them down. X is going to have a big game, and the bench is going to play well.

I think we CAN win if JHS plays and isn't limited. I think we've seen in the last couple games, Rutgers especially, that he is a stabilizing force for the team, but especially X. They need this win. NC isn't proving to be that impressive at this point. Plenty of time to improve this season, but I'm hoping not to prove Lavall Jordan right.

I don't think he's going to play but he is with the team. If he practices today then maybe there is a shot. But I think their resting him till Kansas next Saturday

I'm testing at work today so I have time...Ken Pom AdjO..Iu has already played 2 of the top ten teams. Arizona is 2. Xavier is 9. UNC is 10. IU was lights out defensively against UNC. Against Xavier didn't they hit some crazy shots in the first half? Felt IU was much better defensively in the second half.

On the flip side Rutgers is 6th defensively. Arizona is 65th. Looking like the second best defense IU has seen so far, but still not great.

ESPN gives IU a 57% chance of winning.

I'm not too concerned about this game in terms of the big picture. So far this season we have had three key guys miss games or be limited some. Hard to build roles and continuity under those circumstances. With everyone healthy, I believe we can compete with anyone. When any of TJD, JHS, or TG miss games, it forces others to do things they may not be optimally suited for. I want to win, but, I want this team at full strength even more.

At the start of the year I said win two of the four non-conference games. Well, they're 2-0 so far. UNC just doesn't look as good as we thought. I actually give IU a chance at Kansas. Students will be gone so hopefully that place isn't rocking as it normally would.

Ballo is big and slow. I don't think he is as dominant as Kofi at his size, but will be tough to keep him from bullying his way to the rim.

IU is the more athletic team, especially if JHS plays, but their size and ability to shoot the three will be difficult to deal with.
