Based on what I’ve read we haven’t had the $$$ to pay a single guy 350k.

If 10-15 talented 350k type players cost 3.5-5.25mm, plus the money to retain another 25-30 guys, we are indeed in trouble. I’m just guessing we don’t get anymore Dasan type talents or, if we do, they leave for bigger offers after a good year.

Right. I was just saying... Dasan would be the guy to pay that too, right? Man. Shew.. this sucks.

Is this the case of IU Players saying "show me the money"????

I read an article that quoted (anonymously) coaches from 4 different conferences. Several coaches  mentioned guys going into the portal that didn’t want to leave the school, and might possibly come back, but the players (some from economically difficult circumstances) wanted to see what $$$$$ was out there for them.

I don't see how you see it.

What I find annoying about your posts is how often you just make a comment without elaborating at all. In what way do you not see it like I see it and why? That we didn't win a bowl game is a statement of fact and unless we have a major turnaround shortly, the program will be in a worse place than when he started from both a wins and losses perspective and a momentum perspective.

It's possible to acknowledge that Allen did some great things for the program while also acknowledging that we are in major trouble. This program had a lot of momentum that Allen absolutely had a lot to do with creating, but if he gets credit for building it, he also has to take the blame for botching it. Some terrible coordinator hires and retaining Hiller (or if you want to play semantics, insisting he receive a 2-year contract) were chief among his mistakes.

Regarding the buyout:  this money is paid over the course of time, not just one lump sum as he exits the door, correct?  Future contract earnings lower the buyout, correct?

The numbers add up.  Make it happen.

There are a ton of players available in the portal. I'm assuming Coach Bell is looking for the right QB to fit his offense. I mean at this current time a total of 13 available QB's (4 of them rated 4*) are listed today alone.  The issue is the NIL dollars.

I don't care whether or not you find my posting annoying. Absolutely do not care.

We lost to Ole Miss and Tennessee... making it out to be more than it is, is stupid. Just like the loss to Syracuse in the tourney in basketball.. it's just a loss. They were a little bit better than us, that day.

Helluva call by Pruitt for the onside. I was at that game and didn't think about that possibility at all. Ole Miss? we hardly got to practice because of Covid lol.. Lost by less than a TD with an injured backup QB? We had a possession at the end to win.

This is a good point. Money really doesn't exist in college athletics. The Colorado AD admitted as much when he said they don't even have the money to hire Deion, but he'll figure it out. Lol wild.

Colorado was 1-11 this season -- one of the few Power 5 teams worse than us.

But if we take their best players and grab a few more good ones lol maybe we can go 5-6!

Austin Booker (Minnesota) and Rodney McGraw (PSU), both edge rushers from Indiana, are in the portal. I'm guessing the staff will be beating down their doors.

They have been at their respective schools for 2 years each and they have a combined 2 career tackles. I’m guessing they both assume they will not see the field much next year either.

That’s pretty much what we have a shot at, without NIL $$, but their offers out of high school indicate that one or both of them might turn out to be a good college player.

It’s a crap shoot. Who knows???

Your dramatics make me laugh. "burning it to the ground" nahhh... he struggled to maintain the level of 2019+2020, it's ok to call it that. And disgusting as it is to say... we've had a lot worse seasons at IU than the one we just had.

I'm not trying to defend Allen. He should be let go if we have another subpar year, but acting like our football struggles started with him are..... idk the word, crazy to me, I guess to read.

100% what is going on now and the product needs improved, but acting like it's "all on Tom Allen" meh, whatever, I guess if you want to play the blame game, not the easiest of jobs, though.

It is on Tom Allen. Coordinators left, who hired next in line? Allen and they sucked. Had a massive offensive line problem and a god awful position coach that other coaches didnt like. Did Allen fire him? Nope. Did Allen go recruit better offensive lineman or go to the portal? Nope. So yea... It's on Allen.

Yeah tough to tell. PSU obviously brings in kids magnitudes better than McGraw at that position every year, so he was a depth piece for them and would've probably played both years here. The staff really wanted him out of HS and his decommit hurt. Don't think we were ever a real player for Booker, but not sure what happened at Minnesota and he's a CG kid, so he might want to come back home. Purdue will probably be on both of them too if that staff stays together. Mark Hagan, our old DL coach, is still there.

11 of Allen’s 17 conference wins came in 2019 and 2020. In the other 4 seasons he’s 6-30. Just absolutely pitiful. Without good coordinators to prop him up, he’s a bad, bad coach. You can’t LEO your way out of this one. Too bad we have 2 more years of Allen freaking out on the sidelines like a maniac.

Not defending the direction of the program, but if the 6-30 counts, the 11-6 counts too.

Along with the article about the WKU QB, there’s also a list of some of the other QB’s in the portal.

And even worsening I would be surprised if any on that mid major transfer list end up at IU.   IU football will be relegated to JR college,  high school mac level qb, or some other want a be.  For IU McCulley may be if he stays.  That’s the state of IU football.
