Yeah, it certainly depends how you define your terms. For me it’s a matter of if you have a dude on your bench who you know is never gonna be out-prepared, out-scouted, out-schemed and is gonna make nothing but rock solid in-game decisions without fail then you have an elite guy. There just aren’t many guys you can say that about. If you factor recruiting into that, and I don’t, then it becomes a little different thing. Example: I consider Randy Bennett not only elite, but about as good as it gets. A lot of people would disagree, but he hits all of my particular criteria. In Painter’s case, I think he’s been pretty clearly the best HC in the B1G since Beilein left. If you’re the best guy in arguably the best conference you’re pretty much elite by definition.

Because Painter is the best HC in the B10 since Belein is why the B10 is down and had 0 National Championships!  Yes I know Turdue made the championship game but that was because they had the best player in the country and now he’s gone, Turdue will finish 5th or lower, IMO

I would think that having the #3 frontcourt and #14 backcourt would make this a top 10 team. There must be some reason it isn't. I wonder what that could be.

Crazy guess ... There haven't been any games played yet? That could be it.

Right, because preseason polls aren't a thing.

These are one guy - Rob Dauster's - projections. In May, the last time he put out team rankings, he had IU as his #13 ranked team.

If you've heard Dauster interviewed, he's not all in on Woody, he still doesn't think we have enough outside shooters,  and he isn't sure that a collection of parts equals a whole

So Dauster has us as the #3 frontcourt, the #14 backcourt, and the #13 overall team.

That's a fairly tough first Atlantis game:

"According toOn3's team transfer portal rankings, which takes into account transfers both in and out, Louisville has the No. 1 transfer portal class in all of college basketball. The Cardinals were also placed at No. 4 in 247Sports' post-spring ACC Power Rankings."

From the little bit I know of Pat Kelsey, I expect Louisville will be light years ahead of what they were last year... Not necessarily elite or even great, but decent to pretty good in year 1.

I don't know how they are but we need to beat them in that first game since the strength of our schedule (as it appears now) relies almost entirely on seeing Gonzaga and Arizona in that tournament.

Couldn’t agree more.
