4-star 6'7" PF attends Worcester Academy in Shrewsbury, MA.  No MaxPreps stats.  Plays for BABC on the EYBL circuit.

Named Gatorade's POY in Massachusetts --  The 6-foot-9, 210-pound junior forward led the Hilltoppers to a 23-7 record and the New England Prep School Athletic Council Class AA tournament championship this past season.  Power averaged 13.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game, and he tallied 26 points and 11 boards in Worcester’s 85-83 victory over Bradford Christian Academy in the Class AA title game, earning tournament MVP honors.  A transfer from St. John’s High in Shrewsbury, he is ranked as the nation’s No. 49 recruit in the Class of 2023 by ESPN.com.

Power has volunteered locally as part of multiple fundraising campaigns to benefit A Shot for Life, a non-profit that funds health and cancer research initiatives. He has also donated his time as a youth basketball coach. “I love TJ’s versatility and his willingness to take what the defense gives him,” said James Cormier, head coach of Cushing Academy. “He was a main focus for us (when we played them) and only had seven points in the game, but he impacted their win in so many ways because of his other abilities.”

Power has maintained an A average in the classroom. He will begin his senior year of high school this fall.

Nice interview by Mike. Sounds like another grounded, high caliber kid. Really curious note: Plays baseball. Left handed pitcher, but shoots a basketball right handed. Huh.

Although his career lies in basketball, FWIW he's a really good pitcher as well.  He had a 1.11 ERA at Worcester Academy this past year.

Back in late 2020 he said he wanted to play both basketball and baseball in college.

Wait, 5*? According to whom? He has a good ranking - #62 in the 247 composite - but that isn't really even borderline 5* territory. IU has a decent baseball team, maybe we could sell that as well.

I think it counts against the sport that's earlier in the year.

IU is no longer considered a blue blood by todays recruits. Understandably so since we've been mediocre or sucked most of their lives. At least they still recognize the huge, loyal fan base.

Yeah, a 17 year old kid would have zero reason to view IUBB that way. Hell, if his Dad’s 45 he would have been in high school when it was still consistently truly relevant. But, the beauty of a place like IU is that it can potentially resuscitate quickly in a way that something like Nebraska football can’t. And Power seems to get that. Smart kid.

I'm 44 (turning 45 this year) so it's more like middle school when IU was last a real NC contender. In HS they were still top 25 good but not elite and that is when IU started having their early NCAAT exits. It's been such a long time.

JS has it mostly correct but it's a bit more complicated than that. Here's what I've found when I looked into this before:

• Anyone who participates in football is counted in that sport, even if he does not receive financial aid from the football program. An exception exists for players at non-scholarship FCS programs who receive aid in another sport.^[71]
• Participants in basketball are counted in that sport, unless they also play football.
• Participants in men's ice hockey are counted in that sport, unless they also play football or basketball.
• Participants in both men's swimming and diving and men's water polo are counted in swimming and diving, unless they count in football or basketball.
• Participants in women's (indoor) volleyball are counted in that sport unless they also play basketball.
• All other multi-sport athletes are counted in whichever sport the school chooses
