IUBB vs Rutgers - 03/02/22 @ 7:00 on BTN

Good for Harper making those shirts. He's made his share of big shots. Geo Baker had a comment after the game something like "our mindset was to go out there and ruin their senior night." And he goes out and makes big plays in the clutch. Good for him. Killer instinct, mentally tough. Johnny Davis' quote about IU being TJD and not much else...unfortunately he's not really wrong. I'm sure it seemed like a disrespectful quote to many. That's fine. He's got killer instinct too. Good for him. I for one can't wait until we have guys like this on our roster, willing to chat some $hit and and more importantly go out and back it up.

I fall under the belief if you produce on the court you can say whatever you want after the game.

There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Not producing on the court can make confidence come across as arrogance. Producing allows you to push that confidence line a bit further toward arrogance. I don’t want a roster full of arrogant kids. I just want some dudes. Killer instinct and not afraid to go out after a game where we actually performed in the clutch and say “yeah we planned on coming in to their house and shoving it down their throat.”

I believe we reached out to agents of top college coaches Beard, Oats, Musselman, even Drew. They didn't have any interest so I don't think salary was ever discussed. That's why I say if one of them might have had interest, we could have gone back to the booster who was putting up the Stevens money to say we need this for this coach too.

Chris, Is it normal for a school like Kansas, UK, Arizona, Duke, UNC, to split the head coaches salary with a booster? This seems strange to me?

So Indiana is not an attractive job - did any of those coaches say why they said no?

I don’t have any issues with those guys talking a little bit. My thing is our guys need to get better and shut them up

I think it does but I really don’t know. It’s more like a booster donates a sum of money & that money is used to pay the coach salary. I just know that’s how this was how it was going to go down for Stevens

Was there any indication that Stevens was ever interested in the job? or did we just go in blind with the brinks truck?

This has been talked about way too much but I guess it’s all who you believe.

Any idea if we contacted Drew before or after he won the championship? Had he lost I think, hope, he would have had interest.

If all those guys said no then we are forced to hire someone unproven and hope they pan out. Sad state of affairs.

I am sure Dolson reached to his A list candidates, I think he had to settle for Woodson because everyone else turned him down

I agree, Harper and Davis have that killer instinct, something no one on the IU team has.  They both are shot makers and potential pros, again nobody on the IU team is ready for.  TJD can’t create his own shot and he plays soft around the rim, which is why he rarely gets a 3 point play when he is fouled attempting a shot.  Also, he has trouble finishing around the rim and unless he is dunking, his percentage goes way down

That’s ridiculous, but I am curious why you say it.

It seems everything I read from you in the threads is about how bad IU sucks and will without question continue to suck in the future and beyond. Every speculation on any topic arrives at the suckiest possible conclusion no matter which path IU took in the past or will take in the future except for whatever monthly point you are currently pushing that will never happen. Off the top of my head, according to you we should not have hired Woody, even though also according to you nobody else would have come here anyway, because everything here sucks so bad everybody with any sense in or around IU should rightfully hate life itself. All of our players suck, but they should all leave and go somewhere else as soon as possible because everything sucks so bad here nobody good will ever come here, and they shouldn't, and that's never going to change because our program consists of nothing but losers in loserville top-to-bottom. It has been that way for 20 years, and will be 20 years from now at least without question no matter what we do except for this one position of the month you want to push in every thread. Sometimes you spam the same harshly negative opinions repeatedly in 10 separate threads at a time. You work the board so hard with many of those repeats I sometimes think you should get paid for the work you do just because you are working so hard at it lol. Your post I replied to even referred to how over Bloomington guys must undoubtedly be by now the way some other guys in the past must have been, and that is why those guys from the past got out when they could.

I just can't for the life of me recall a happy ending to any of your many posts haha. Maybe today will be the day. It's Friday.

When I’m fed a sh** sandwich, I don’t pretend that it tastes good. We haven’t made it past the sweet 16 in 20 years. We have only made 3 sweet 16s in the past 20 years. We’ve only made 4 tournaments since 2008. We haven’t made the tournament since 2016. Since then, we’ve finished T-10th, T-6th, 9th, T-10th, T-10th, and 9th in the conference. We suck, and we’ve sucked for the better part of two decades. I don’t know an IU basketball program that’s elite. I was a 1st grader the last time we played in an elite 8.

As for sucking in the future, what has the administration done to make you think we won’t keep sucking? They’ve done nothing to suggest that they’re serious about winning big. We needed a big splash to right the ship when we fired Archie. What did we do? We hired a 63 year old failed NBA head coach with zero college coaching experience because he played at IU 4+ decades ago. He somehow took over a bad offense and made it even worse. If you’re optimistic for the future that’s your prerogative, but it’s blind optimism not based on the reality of our program.

You also don't have to continue to eat the sh*t sandwich. :-)

I would like to say that we reached some goals, but not all of them.

Improvement, not success

I think I'm going to look at it like this

We had a PG who was hot/cold with some other issues

We had a SG who could only shoot and didn't always get many shots, when he did get many shots he didn't make them

We had a SF who didn't do anything well but for some reason kept getting minutes

We had a PF who played his butt off but wasn't great at anything, also lost concentration as the game wore on

We had C who has the best-left hand in cbb within 2 feet. Blocks some shots but not much other than that.

And a bench that was blah

This is exactly what the program needed. We forgot how to appreciate a winning culture and program. \s
