We’ve had a favorable schedule thus far but things are going to get a little tougher down the stretch. The woulda, coulda, shoulda… 8-4 in Big 1.o play would be one game out of first place..? In what Big 1.o is 8-4 one game out? Again, we’ve play an easier conference schedule. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Wisky has probably played the toughest B1G schedule so far. Sparty probably the easiest. You can only play the teams that are on the schedule. I’m guessing he is saying if IU won today they would of been one game out of 9-3 iu will either win enough games on the remaining schedule to make it or they won’t lillurk, Indiana muskie and HoosierHoopster 3 Quote

Not sure if they’re accurate, not in my wheelhouse. There was a ton of hype about Woody being able to keep TJD because he was gone. The talk was that TJD would develop a jumper and a right hand. TJD has been given more freedom on defense to block shots. TJD isn’t a banger against bigger bigs and has a lot of opportunity to improve on intangibles that would help his team win. He has the body and athleticism to play in the league but lacks skill and the other major aspects to play in the NBA. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app I see he has some nice quickness and length and a body that could play on the wing but he does not play at all like a wing because he can't shoot, and I don't really remember seeing him beat a guy off the dribble from the perimeter. He beats guys under the basket, but he just does not look like a guy who can do that a lot against the guys he would meet under the basket in the NBA. I think I expected the shot to be better than it is now at this point in the season. MikeRoberts 1 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 But in the macro, did anyone think IU would be a much better team this year? Maybe they had higher expectations for specific players, sure. But if IU had simply flipped one of their conferences losses — two of which came down to the final minute — they would currently be one game out of first place. I understand frustrations but the idea that in year one cleaning up they’d be a contender in conference? That wasn’t anyone’s expectation. Wisky has probably played the toughest B1G schedule so far. Sparty probably the easiest. You can only play the teams that are on the schedule. As for performance against expectations and schedule strength and win totals, Torvik has IU as 4th best team by adjusted efficiency in conference only, and finishing with the 13th (of 14) easiest schedule. Projected for 21-9 (12-8). Without revisiting the season predictions thread, I’d be surprised if anyone had better than 13-7 in conference…plus predictions and expectations aren’t the same. Did anyone really expect conference contention? I don’t recall that. HoosierHoopster 1 Quote

He hasn’t really developed a lot of skill here. Race should have dominated his matchup today but he rushed everything he did in the post today. I don't think some of our fans realize how difficult it is to become an NBA draft pick, or what NBA scouts even look for. They just think the best players on our teams are NBA material, which goes hand in hand with thinking our teams are more talented than they actually are. I don't usually follow mock drafts, so I don't know where to look to find reliable mocks, and looking took more time and green beans than I expected without results. Do you happen to know of a few mocks that are worth looking at just for points of opinionated reference? Quote

There’s a lot to unpack in that post too. 4th best in adjusted efficiency is great, not sure that will get us comfortably into the tourney. The strength of schedule is pretty evident just glancing at the schedule. Two against several of the bottom of the conference in Nebrasketball (winless in conference), Maryland (do they still care?), Minny (fallen back to earth after noncon), and PSU (they fight but lack real talent). We’re still fighting to get to that 12 win mark in conference play, schedule gets tougher. We’ll need to win 5 of 8 against that tougher schedule. I’m not sure what 13-7 has to do with expectations or conference contention. I do believe we should have won at PSU (none of that e and e stuff there). Not imploding against Wiscy and Iowa probably results in another win. Showing up and still losing to Michigan would have been bad but our optional e and e in that contest is unacceptable. We have opportunities coming up. We’ll see how much the team has progressed from recent seasons.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app lillurk 1 Quote
94Bulldog Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 I don’t know which ones are the best but a quick scan of various posted mock drafts have TJD as high as 47 (bleacher report) to outside the top 60. So basically mid to late second rounder best case, to worse case going undrafted. Unfortunately my bet would be the latter. Name 1 game in his career he outplayed someone of equal or higher talent. chicagoHOOSIER 1 Quote

If he shots 25% in practice there is no rationale to do it in a game, even if your coach is ok with it. race has no problem pulling the trigger but he probably shouldn’t pumpfake 1 Quote

You addressed his question but for me it’s size. Has he consistently played well against guys as big or bigger than him? No. He struggles almost everytime he squares off with someone 6’10” or taller with any skills. That’s all there are in the NBA Uspshoosier 1 Quote

The fact that he didn’t attempt at least one is puzzling! If your coach is not telling you to not shoot, take the open 12-15 footer. You never no, but it could open up his and everyone else’s game!!!
