Horrible second half. Just unmotivated and lazy. IU didn’t even want to be there. It’s so old losing these games in convincing fashion. Northwestern is a must have at this point

Hoping we get the same start to the NU game that we had against PSU. But NU is scrappy and plays with a lot of confidence at home, so doing that will be tough.

Seems like an overly hot take.  Always seem strange to me that people that a team's best player doesn't suffer from a bad matchup or has a bad game.  I like Race, but calling TJD ****.....c'mon.

Its beyond obvious TJD can’t play the bigger centers straight up. Were small and need to front and help like Race was doing at the end of the first half. 
 

It’s also obvious you can’t feed TJD in the post as the basis of your offense against those guys.  
 

Our perimeter players aren’t great but we have depth. We have to run and pressure these bigger teams. Kind of like we did Purdue at times. TJD has to play like a role player in these type of games and not some focal point. We literally played better without him at times today because we weren’t trying to let him matchup with Kofi. 

I don't think Illinois is even bigger. Kofi is bigger, but he seems like really the only big guy they have. He's a giant, but who else is even big on their team? We can usually put some big/strong/athletic front court guys out there even if TJD gets benched by fouls/other. I just can't figure out what happened, why we could not adjust and bring this win home, especially to the point of getting the living shlt knocked out of us at home. Dang man. F@$k. Not expected that we would get defloralled like that. Man, they took our flower from us on national television without our consent. F#$k man, that's rape.

Definitely harsh but true. TJD can’t bang in the NBA but can’t shoot well enough to not have to bang.

Being an IU/Cowboys fan Trayce is our Dak. Plays great against weaker competition and struggles against the best. I like Trayce a lot. But he’s a very good college player at best. Just limited as a big.

The defense wasn't good in the second half, but if you can't put the ball in the basket the defense becomes irrelevant.  8 of 27 from the field the second half, 1 of 6 from three, and only 4 free throws.

Didn’t shoot in 16 minutes tonight and was averaging like 4.4 ppg in conference games coming in.

Bates and Galloway didn’t play great. Phinisee’s out. Starting matters less than minutes, and less than finishing.

But it’s time to dial up sets for Kopp to shoot, or make a change.

Agree on TJD. He’s just not that good against great competition. They won the Purdue game in spite of him and lost the Illinois game in a large part because of him

Exactly. Granted he made a few big free throws against Purdue but it was Rob and X that really stepped up. They didn’t have that today.

Rob played out of his mind against PU. We needed someone to do that, or something close to it, but no one dramatically impacted the game.
