And I'd still rather have a game against a Top 5 team in Bloomington over Virginia. That just sounds like a great way to screw us. Especially with the B1G likely being very down.

I've seen them ranked top 20 in some pre-season rankings, so yeah I would say they are pretty similar to us (pretty consistently ranked ~15). Plus the Armaan Franklin storyline would be an interesting one.

I wonder what kind of treatment he would get in a Bloomington return... But I still think math up wise, marketing wise, money wise, TV eating wise... Indiana-Virginia would be a snoozer(in multiple ways) compared to IU-UNC or IU-Duke.

No one outside of IU-Virginia fans would care about that game. It's like settling for Butler or ND in the Crossroads again.

This isn't like a "we complain enough and we get our way" type thing. We aren't settling... if the committee gives us UVA... I will be pretty pumped. 

I mean.. @unc would intrigue me a lot more than UNC at home, have we played there since Jeff Netwon? We will have played 6 B1G/ACC games at homes.. and 3 of them will have been against unc (if we played them at home this year). yawn. 

I will appreciate getting to play a top 5 team at home, I just want to watch us play someone else. Jmo

Pretending like UVA isn't an ultra successful program right now, though, sort of confusing for me. Bennett is legit.

Virginia should be a top 25 team and IU would kill to have their recent history. But the atmosphere/entertainment value of hosting a top 10 Duke or UNC will be so much better than hosting a more talented version of Wisconsin.

Yeah I can see AH being a little more ruckus for Duke/UNC. I can see that. 

But... lets not pretend like that place won't be rocking, regardless.

I don't want to rock the boat, and while I understand that many of you want to front load our non-con with marquee names, I think we should be a little careful of what we wish for. 

Some are wanting Duke/NC, Kentucky, and other highly ranked opponents. Like 5-10 or so of them(or so it seems). I'm not so sure you'd like that if we went 1-9 against them. Or even 4-6.

The preseason is to prepare for your conference. Yes, you need to test the waters to see where you measure up, and not measure up against good competition. But I don't think we should be stuffing the non-con with (what seems like many want) with all ranked teams.

Should we play sub 250-300 ranked games? Probably not, but there are plenty of really competitive teams out there that aren't in the top 25-50 that would make us better, and get used to learning how to win. (or "get over the hump" as Woody says)
