Saw you clamoring for Lander last night so assumed you were referring to him. I can only assume his defense hasn't improved enough to get him into the lineup Chris007 1 Quote

Yeah you might be right but I know a university that just moved theirs back on their court before the start of the season so I'm not sure why they would've done that then. IUc2016 1 Quote

I can't tell yet if it was a one-off occurrence, but Bates feet on a 3 he took in the first half looked incredibly awkward to me. Quote

I want to root for the kid, but I have no idea what Galloway brings to this team that it doesn't already have. Yes he can handle the ball, but this team doesn't struggle in that area. He isn't some great defender that he is billed to be (maybe he is in the right spot but he does get beat often). And last, this team doesn't have shooting and galloway is among the worst. Please play anthony leal, I am not saying he is going to light it up, but he can shoot and is a fine defender. Galloway imo is what he is unfortunately. He plays hard but that should be the expectation for every player and not something that, by itself, gets you on the court. He’s just kind of out there doing cardio when he plays. He’s not a threat on offense. He can’t shoot. He’s not a defensive specialist. Maybe he’ll be a rotational player when he’s an upperclassman but he’s not one on a good team at this point. If he is good at it is another question. The potential, length, and athleticism is all there but counting on him being a + shooter from jump is highly unlikely. RaceToTheTop Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 The four guys that transferred (Durham, Brunk, Franklin, and Hunter) were a combined 9 of 30 from the field and 4 of 15 from three. Lack of coaching in the past is going to take to overcome…..it wasn’t just the guys we retained that shot poorly. Quote

I never said from jump but the fact that he holds the record for 9 in a game at LN is impressive with all the talent that Keefer has had there. Yes, I know a single game all it takes is to get hot but that tells me that the potential is there to work with. lillurk 1 Quote

The problem with that is if they are a good shooter in high school or aau or whatever then in many cases the high school coaches are afraid they might mess things up so they choose not to mess with it. Sometimes making a kid have better form doesn't actually make them a better shooter. If a kid has bad form and can't shoot then you should be working to improve that form in high school and definitely before the kid gets to college. Quote

His feet were a little wide. Some guys do that. I care more about the rotation and release. If that's good than a kid has a chance to be a decent shooter or better. lillurk 1 Quote

MoyeNeeded Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 I'm just disappointed because the last 4yrs of IU basketball it's been the same old story. Can't hit FTs or 3pt. Alot of games left on the floor because of those 2 areas. Quote

But at a young age, it should be worked on. A big thing is not having kids jack 3s from Curry range at 8 years old. Quote
Dave from Dayton Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 I, for one, am not worried about this team. I, also, am not worried about the new coach. TJD, and Race are as good as last year. Maybe better. They are clicking together and loose. Sure, TJD needs to improve his FTs. And Race needs to get better on 3's and rebound lots. Guard improvement is happening. Phin looked lots better, albeit just the first half. Tamar Bates is interesting and has quickness and a head for the ball. Patrick Stewart has talent and so does X. They came out of the blocks quickly. But they lost focus in the 2nd half. Shot selection will improve. The experimentation of different lineups will settle down. Improvements will likely happen in shooting percentages and rebounds. Taking a step back...they do need to learn how to win. And our coaches know how to do that. It is a teaching opportunity. lillurk and darB s'tI 2 Quote

I saw a friend’s picture from later in the game and it looked like a pretty good crowd given the 6:00 start, the directional school opponent, and the absolute mess that is 37. When I went to the OSU football game I had no problem getting to Bloomington from Indy. I just took 67 past Martinsville and then got onto 69. Quote
coonhounds Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Yep still disappointed today. After everything we heard from people who have seen practice and from the exhibition and Bahamas i was hoping for better. I literally can't think of one thing we did better than last season but I can think of something we did worse and that was rebound which is alarming. Praying Friday is better just for peace of mindSent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk Quote

It will take some games for players to get adjusted to shooting from that distance in game. They haven't changed the distance in the last few years. Quote
