Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 5, 2022 Author Posted February 5, 2022 Senior night for Banks as Fayette County's (17-8) regular season ends with a 73-65 win over Riverdale (7-15). Banks finished with 24p 16r 3a 3stl 2blk. Game was butt ugly as neither team played particularly well. Fast paced and helter skelter with lots of sloppy turnovers by both teams. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 Fayette County won its Region 5 AAAA championship game 68-60 over McDonough. Banks 21p 12r Both teams and the officials all have to exit the gym floor at the same point. Immediately after the game was over, the Fayette team headed for its locker room. No wild mid-court celebration, they just all moved towards the exit. Except for 1 wise a$$ who hung back and kept mouthing off at the McDonough bench. So, a couple of McD players start moving at him ahead of the McD team who is now all also headed to that same exit where the Fayette team has congregated. Fortunately, cooler heads stepped in and nothing of consequence happened but there certainly was the potential for it to get ugly and all because of 1 flaming idiot. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
MikeRoberts Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 How is Banks game coming along? It’s good to see he is putting up big numbers but how is his footwork in the paint? How is is jumpshot/midrange game? Can he beat players off the dribble and get to the hoop? Quote

Banks’ issue is that among the recruits/commits he’s the least well-coached. Easily. Where it’s really glaring is with his defensive fundamentals, which are just bad. He struggles to maintain ball awareness and his execution of rudimentary ball/you/man stuff is not good. He’s also got enough inconsistency in his shot mechanics that he’s very streaky from range. And his effort comes and goes a little bit. BUT, he’s a really talented kid. Good athlete. Good frame. Can really run. He’s got some post fundamentals in place. He’s got a jump hook. He’s got a drop step. He can face up and create space. He can handle in the open court and take it end to end. He’s a pretty good passer off the dribble. He’s got really good hands and he’s a good rebounder on both ends. And he plays easily through contact. His issues are just developmental. He doesn’t have a trait or skill like Trayce’s jumper where you know it’s never gonna come. He’s gonna be a good player, possibly really good, but he’ll only play as early as his D will allow.
