His 08-09 Pitt team with DeJuan Blair was so much fun to watch. I really thought they were gonna win a National Title. Shocked when they were upset by Nova in the E8

In year 1, Schertz took a St Louis team that went 13-20 (5-13) last year to 18-13 (11-7) in the Atlantic 10, arguably one the top 2-3 mid-major conferences. They went from a 2P% of 49.6% (209th in NCAA) to a 2P% of 59.5% (4th). He’s got them shooting 3s on 50.2% of their possessions (good for 6th in NCAA) while shooting 35.2% (103rd). He had players at ISU shooting 38.1% from 3 the year prior. I’m sure he will be able to do the same or close in year 2 at SLU if he’s there. This type of play jives well with AH.

What he’s been able to do there, and what he did before at Indiana State (in arguably the worst city in Indiana) say more than enough to me about what he can do at IU.

Some more context, SLU won 21 and 23 games two and three years ago. They lost 8/9 of their top players to the portal/graduation in Ford's last year and lost their best player (Sincere Parker now with Wade at McNeese St) midway through last year and was a big reason they finished 13-20. SLU has been a contender the last several years dating back to the Majerus years. Yes Schertz improved their overall record from the year prior but that was probably a given. I'm out on Schertz until he significantly elevates SLU, who has historically been a decent program.

Still think the most logical explanation for this is that AD folks need to be available to manage NCAA game duties.  Handle ticket requests, determine who gets what tiks based on point system, possibly a travel package for bigger donors, pregame rally, in addition to travel arrangements for band, cheerleaders—everything that goes with NCAA games.  Plus all the additional AD staff that must travel.  As to HC, they would need to plan hospitality events for big donors/prospects on the road.  Also HC—why would they need to be prepared to accept donations around an announcement?  Easily done online.  It’s not like people line up in Bloomington and hand over a check:).

Having worked at and tons of friends that work for IU  (Bloomington for 30+ - stayed here after school) - this kinda of staffing is absolutely assumed/set before the seasons start - as I said you are prepped for staffing for  tourney (all scenarios - Men hosting for NIT and/or Women hosting NCAA are the 2 most personal heavy - neither of those are happening from the look of it). What does it mean? No clue but it's not a normal request this late hour unless it really is an unexpected event.

(plus you don't send big money donors thru an automated system - never - they get the white glove treatment at a certain money point - I was lucky enough to get to know Bill Armstrong pretty well and he took me to some RMK events - he made sure every money person was identified and had a personal experience. Still know people in Alumni Assoc and they have a list of contacts they take care of personally.)

I see what is happening. Dolson flew to Clemson for the head fake, then hopped a plane to Concord, NC so he can meet up with BS in Charlotte. He told the donors to sell the head fake, but really he had his guy all along.

I think the mescaline may have just kicked in.

Dolson has had a year to work on this search and the two leading candidates are a guy with one year of D1 experience and a guy with 15 years of mediocre ACC experience. He learned his cooking skills at the Woodson Culinary Institute.

Just remember that it’s a two way street ; who you like to get is sometimes different than who’s available to get.

I don't know man. If we hire Brownell, we're going to need all the donations we can get. All hands on deck!

The worst part about hiring Brownell is hearing Mediocre Mike telling us "I told you so".

One thing to keep in mind here is that no one is truly out until the search is actually over. There are extreme cases — a guy who gets a huge buyout in a contract extension is probably out, for example — but I’m thinking of Otz specifically here and it applies to others too.

Hey guys. Let’s not forget there are people besides MW and SD who fly on these planes. My burst guess: Tom Allen had to pick up some boxes left in his b-town storage unit
