General Coach Candidate News

In that order of likelihood? Bucky does seem like the long shot

Bucky McMillan would be a sign this search has gone sideways. According to Torvik, he's only ever had one top-100 team in efficiency. Archie at least got teams to the 50s.

I’m the biggest Dusty homer that there is. If we can lure him, I’d be beyond thrilled. For the few doubters of him left, keep doubting. He’ll just keep getting better and proving people wrong. I would love to be wrong, but I’m about to have myself talked out of him leaving UM. Maybe I put too much stock into what his family says. I’m not sure anyone besides him really knows.

But if it can’t be Dusty, just find another coach born in 1976 I guess. What a year for head coach births.

The rehab job I was thinking about, courtesy of the Wichita State game, is Gregg Marshall. He was quite the candidate around here in the Archie cycle. You know a dude is an irredeemable POS when a guy was as successful as he was and when he goes away no one EVER tries to bring him back. Whatever the Chris Beard concerns are, he ain’t Gregg Marshall.

That’s a good pull. He was as hot as anyone and then just dropped off the face of the basketball planet.

I would love Dusty May, but has there been a P5 coach that switched teams in conference in the last 30 years?  I just don't think it's done.

Mike White UF to UGA . Inexplicably, 3 years ago UGA "stole" a middling at best Mike White, with no discernible offensive philosophy and meh results to finish 11th (6-12) in the SEC the last 2 seasons and is 4-9 now. The poor Gators had to scrounge around and hire Todd Golden.

Hahahahhahaha

Speaking of Georgia, Tubby Smith went from Georgia to Kentucky.

Yeah that was one where Mike White left because he knew he was on the hot seat and wanted to get out before he got fired.

Haven't watched UGA but his UF teams were unwatchable. It was just stand around  pound a hole in the floor and chuck up a sh*tty 3.

Haha Goodman already cleared that up for us. ;-) I think Michigan knows they can’t get in a bidding war with us.

Michigan actually has a much larger endowment than IU with more donor power...but...do those donors want to use it for basketball is the question?

Cronin is picking up steam from legit media outlets. Several new articles out today. Obviously doesn’t happen til UCLA’s season is over.

I would hope we aren't crazy enough to pay a $16 million buyout for Mick Cronin, he's not worth that plus the contract he'd get.

I say that knowing we hired Mike Woodson so the bar is set pretty low.

Football is king up there, so probably not. I’m pretty sure Howard complained about the basketball support when he was there.

It drops to $12M after the season and there has been mention of a loophole installed in the contract.

Just an FYI
