Why is Cronin talking like we fired woodson? He is retiring our coaching search isn't the same as firing someone mid season!

Probably because Woodson was actually fired and everyone knows it? The IU press release that Woodson decided to retire didn't fool many.

Do you feel it's possible that Brad out respect & concern for Woodson & current players had that tweet put out to turn down the volume of a Steven's distraction?

Might be misremembering, but I thought 4 years ago he wouldn't talk to us until Archie Miller was gone because he didn't want to be linked to a job that wasn't open, and be seen as someone who pushed Miller out the door.

So marginally? Idk why anyone would look at those results from Cronin, at UCLA, and say "sign me up"

To each their own, but I think Cronin is an above average coach, at best, and we can do measurably better.

He’s a top 15-20 coach in the sport. So no, he’s not the top option, or one of the top-3, but again we’d be silly to not be happy with him.

He doesn’t “excite” me to the original point but acting like he’s not a good coach, or even calling him an average coach, is factually incorrect.

Same,I know he's a decent coach but something about him rubs me the wrong way.

I've watched him through the years and I believe the abrasivness would wear thin rather quickly here Just like the strangeness did with crean.

I think we could certainly do worse, but I just don’t see us spending that much for his buyout.

Oats is worth his buyout. Cronin I don’t think is.

I appreciate all the support. I love being a part of this place for the last so many years. I will continue to share what I hear. I will be right sometimes and wrong probably more than I would like. Do I get some bad information sometimes yes but I don’t think it was this time. So to the ones that are my friends thank you, to the ones who blast me, love you guys too. It’s a beautiful weekend and let’s see how this plays out. PS I was told my beautiful mug was all over the TV last night. Pretty sure a modeling agency will be knocking on my door any day now.

Thank you for sharing what you hear! It's appreciated!

I want a coach that spreads the nil out evenly among all the players. Let’s play team ball again!

Then as the season goes on they can earn their own bonuses.

Goob, I think what you’re describing is going to be effective next year or the one after, can’t recall which. When the revenue sharing agreement kicks in, the schools will pay players directly. There are title 9 implications and I think it’s up to each school how to allocate the money. I assume / hope a lot of coaches will manage their budget by paying a base rate per roster spot, with NIL sweeteners / incentives agreed separately based on their marketability… interesting times in college sports

Oh I didn’t doubt that, I was just politely telling him to stop pushing that ha

You’d hope we’d land a more proven commodity. IU basketball should have far more pull than IU football did.

Someone please refresh my memory. Why is it that people say we can’t get McCasland?

He grew up in Texas, went to college in Texas, and his entire coaching career except 1 year has been in Texas. That 1 year, he went all the way to Arkansas.

That said, he's very high on my list and I hope Dolson tries to get him away from Texas. The guy is a winner.  He's also making only $2.9M/year.  IU can offer significantly more than that.

Nate Oats would be my #1 option if landing him is realistic. I thought his buyout was insane though.

I think his resume is T20.. I don't think he's actually a Top 20 coach.

Show the text.   Stevens could easily do a number of things without a press conference.  Grab a reporter in the hall and go on record in s recorded interview stating that he is not interested in the IU job.  Issue a written statement and send it to media for publication.   Or tweet something himself.  Etc.  He did none of this.

Yeah, in 2021 he had the masshole comments that definitely stated that he had no interest in the IU job. I’m not saying that he does or doesn’t have interest in this job or not. But in 2021 it was a lot more clear. Until he calls himself a masshole again gotta have some faith.

Is he pushing him, or did Dolson ask Cig about him because of their connection; and he gave him a positive review?  Pretty big difference, and I hope it's the latter, as the football coach should have no say or huge influence on the decision of a basketball coach.

Yes.  I’m extremely confident Cig said his piece and then left Scott alone.  Cig knows how successful organizations work.
