Stevens said “I thoroughly appreciate being a Celtic and love the people I get to work with everyday”. Then he supposedly said he is not a candidate for the job but it is not a definite no and is interestingly not quoted.

Ok maybe he is out but Dusty says this and yet he is still possible. “But that stuff’s crazy. I love being at Michigan. I love our team. We’re fighting like crazy. That’s it. This place is my foundation, but I’m very, very happy at the University of Michigan. We were here to win a game, and mission accomplished.”

Yep and some are saying ok onto Dusty.

Who are your top 3 candidates? Serious question, because I only know that you hate Woodson.

I understand everyone’s concerns and takes. Quite frankly if Indiana wants to be a winner again Chris Beard and IUBB are a match made in heaven.
All I know is jim coyle says beard would crawl over broken glass for this job. Who knows if that's true but if we pass on him and end up with a brad bronwell type well I guess we get what we deserve.

Because if we can't get may who else is there. Iu won't touch beard or pearl. He is that next tier.

I don't know who else there is. Just because someone isn't on our list, doesn't mean they aren't the best option. May seems like a good fit. The Iowa St guy looks pretty attractive and I personally think the Stevens talk is a silly distraction, but clearly am in the minority.

But I want IU to hire the best candidate, not the most popular or obvious. Clearly that's not that easy since they've failed 3.5 out of the last 4 times (I'll give partial credit for TC.)

There is a month left in the regular season, so I'm not ready to panic hire yet.

We have been elite so long, we don’t need a great coach. We are IU.

They could however they passed on him last cycle and that was before the other incident.  It was reported iu looked into his past and found too many skeletons in his closet.  This time around I don’t see any way they would change their view.   Louisville and Kentucky had openings last year and Beard didn’t get a sniff at either of them.  Schools that are known for overlooking stuff chose Pope and Kelsey over Beard.   Luckily for Beard the SEC has teams that don’t care about some stuff and are willing to take a chance.  Interesting to see in the coming years if any schools outside the sec will take a chance

We don't know that to be absolute though either. How do you know RMK didn't tell him about the pinnacle of cbb at IU when they were at TT together? Maybe he always thought IU was a better job than Texas and that was a stepping stone.

We just don't know, but one thing we do know is he wants the job and would do well here!

I'm not saying he isn't a risk, but I would be willing to risk it for the reward he could reap.

I guess it’s possible, but I have a hard time believing he leaves his alma mater who he already had rolling that also happens to be one of the richest schools in the country if it weren’t for the elephant in the room.

My last thought on this…

Let Fisch have a say in this decision.

He has seen, firsthand, pretty much every candidate in the pool. He has been around long enough to know what good coaching looks like.

Take his opinion and weigh it as heavily as anything else.
Nothing has worked in this process for the last 25 years. What would it hurt to listen to him?
