This was written before Ware committed but says Indiana is in a "favorable position" for Dalton Knecht; don't know what they're basing that on, if anything, but hopefully.

so Arterio Morris from Texas, will be sophomore averaged 11 mins behind two stud guards at Texas.  Think we make a call?

No idea whatsoever if IU has a chance but I would imagine they’d at least sniff around.

There’s backstory there you’d have to take a very close look at.

Ware also can shoot a bit and I think Reneau can develop that too. Reneau hit some perimeter shots early in the season.

There’s no doubt that TJD’s refusal to shoot limited his ability a bit. But there’s not a lot a distance between refusal to shoot and can’t shoot. Ware made 15 3’s last year 27% shooting. Unless that really improves teams will drop to protect the rim the same way they did with TJD.

I *hope* Reneau improves as much as everyone else, but we all know how that goes. He seemed to want to play outside a little more but he was by far the most effective when he was catching it in the post and bullying his way to the basket.

Just something to keep an eye on. If they both don’t start together, as you suggest, then things get interesting. If we snag another post in the portal I’d say that is increasingly unlikely.

In other words, the style of play Mike Woodson coached for his entire career except for the two years with TJD.

A lot easier to do when one of your bigs is Al Horford or Amare Stoudamire—probably two of the best jump shooting bigs of the last 20 years.    With that said, Ware *does* fit the description of the other post Woodson has had (at least as people have described Ware here…I don’t think I watched Oregon all season).

We need some personnel improvement to get there. I am high on Reneau though and have been all season.

He's 5 made 3 last year from shooting 33%. They aren't playing drop coverage on him. I don't think both will start either.

Al Horford was 0-4 from 3 his 3 years in college.

They were talking about the pro’s. At least I’m assuming since they mentioned Woody’s prior coaching career. Horford played for Donovan in college. And while he isn’t a prolific 3 point shooter, he is the consummate pick and pop post player who loves a 15ft jumper. As he’s gotten older he’s drifted out to the arc more but he’s always been a good face-up jump shooter.

Kel'el is further along as a shooter than Al Horford was as an 18yr old. Ware will be able to pick and pop, and then obviously catch lobs at the rim.

The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards the idea that both Reneau and Ware might not start together. A lot of that depends on who else we get in the portal of course.

Say we get Ledlum and Knecht, I'd say there's a decent chance both Reneau and Ware don't start.

Both guys only averaged 15mpg last season. I don't see a guy like Galloway in that scenario going from 28mpg to 6th man, especially when also given Woodson's expressed desire to play a more perimeter oriented style.

You'd go XJ, Galloway, Knecht, Ledlum, Ware/Reneau. Then you have a bench of Ware/Reneau, Banks, Cupps, Newton/Gunn and Sparks.
