I think the writing is on the wall for JG.  If he comes back he is not playing much more than he is now.  I would be really surprised if he returns.

It might depend on the portal. A small ball front court of MR and JG could be pretty solid ~IF~ MR progresses as expected and JG can stay healthy and find the form he had during last years tourney and the few B1G games he started this year.

I completely understand where you're coming from but don't think Reneau is the answer at the 5.

Ideally, we land a couple of 6'10"+ athletic, rim running/defending bigs to pair with athletic, 3 level scoring guards/wings for a complete team. I would love for IU to be the Big 1.o that breaks the mold of needing multiple bigs having to defend massive, plodding centers in the Big 1.o to win.

Got to fix the officiating first!

Yeah, he’ll go to Providence and be a 12/8 guy because Cooley just does that. And it will be infuriating because every Big East broadcast will refer to him as “the Indiana transfer.”

Whatever it takes to get an IU reference! LOL

Yeah I know how you feel about him, and I disagree. We played our best ball of the season and he excelled during our run after Woodson’s sit down with him while Race was out. Question will be what he and Woodson see as his role next season when Race is gone. He’s been out in a boot and recovering, we don’t know jack right now.

I am confident that I love old school Centers & post dominated offense as much as anyone on this board.....but Holy YMCA league Batman, this guy is bolted to the floor. I can only imagine the B1G teams licking their chops to physically dominate him. Based on that "highlight reel" I'm  not sure he can even dunk. Yeesh.

Josh Cohen's games against power 5 teams this year:

Butler:  37 minutes, 8/14 from the field, 7 rebounds, 18 points

Ohio State:  34 minutes, 8/16 from the field, 10 rebounds, 18 points

Miami (F):  38 minutes, 10/16 from the field, 9 rebounds, 30 points.

Three game totals:  109 minutes, 26/46 from the field, 26 rebounds, 66 points.

So doubt that B1G teams would be licking their chops.

Reneau is probably the answer for primary offensive output at the 5 next year but defensively we really need at least one of the 6'10"+ athletic, rim protector/rebounder types to pair with him.

Would love to see Reneau develop into that big wing that we hoped Race would be. He can score against bigs but if he were able to play alongside a 6'10" athletic big while knocking down jumpers... we'd be entering modern basketball!

Now to shoot more 3s and balance the offense

Chris Ledlum - A few clips

Seems like a more athletic Race.

I know he was mentioned a few pages ago, time to bring him back to the front.

I read that Coach Woodson has spoken to him so we are definitely interested. Staff knew his situation and that he had to go to the portal, so they were prepared.

IMO, Reneau could probably develop into a somewhat effective wing but is a more natural 4 and would be better playing alongside a good shooting/scoring wing than being forced into that role himself.

Woodson and Kenya. Big/physical kid it seems. I like it.

I know he only shot 29% from 3 but his mechanics look pretty good.

I read someone made a good comp that Max came in as a senior with poor shooting numbers and improved immensely. IT does look good.

I use big wing as the 4 and consider modern basketball more of having a PG (1) and big (5) with everything else almost interchangeable. Although, that doesn't always hold with wings playing more point and small ball having a big wing play the 5.

I'd like to see Reneau develop his shooting skills while maintaining his ability to score in the post. He could become difficult to guard and our offense could by more dynamic if that happens. I would hate to see Reneau be forced into a true big on the block which would place limitations on him and he offense.

I don't if we have a snowball's chance with Chris Ledlum, but for me two years of him would be a better formula for winning than any four/five star freshman we could bring in:

  • 6'6" with long arms and physical. He's a full sized three. Perfect to pair with Banks or JG at the four and still have enough size.
  • Can guard three positions.
  • Former top 100 recruit
  • Can create his own shot (that's a huge need for next year)
  • Not just a Harvard kid  - third team Academic All-American. In other words, a seriously mature, smart, leader.

Two years of that kid? No wonder he's in very high demand.

I think he will make a visit here after finals week. Which is this week for Harvard
