IF IF IF we get Burton/Sherrell it rivals the move in my mind as a near 1 to 1.  With Sherrell being the piece that I’m not at all confident in.  We’ve gotta get a centerpiece 5 in my mind. Especially if we don’t do much special at the 4.  

I'm think beside the money, you sell Sherrell on being the 4 and that we'll be playing a 2 big lineup in the Big Ten. He does have a strong Julius Randle game to his vibe. He's bigger though. Get who we're rumored to get and a complement big and another 4/5 backup.  Although I'd give my left pistachio for Allen Graves.

Too early to say but this is certainly making a statement. UL not afraid of a bidding war and seem to really go strong for their primary portal targets. I’m extremely curious what budget is left. But even at 8-10 which wouldn’t surprise based on this move, they can get 2 more strong pieces and a bench.  We’ll get to assess this more in a few weeks to months because I like Burton and Sherrill almost equally.

Reibe?  Seems like a bit of an odd arrangement, but like him as a player a lot. Definitely looking to start somewhere.

Agree with Davis 100%. The hyperbole here is gonna be nuts. If anything they’ve downgraded at PG even if Brown didn’t shoot it great last year and Flory is a great defensive anchor but if he’s your best player I’m not sure you’re actually winning anything.

One of my favorite roster constructions was Willards 24-25 Maryland team. He just didn't have a bench. Still finished second in the Big Ten and went to the sweet 16. 2 bigs, 2 3&d wings and a floor general. My fingers are crossed that is what we're doing. 

Burton, Mustaf, Harris, Sherrell, and a competent center.

Underperformed, flopped, whatever… they didn’t live up to the preseason expectations.  And I’m being negative towards them since they’re sort of a rival.  

If I had to described IU I would say we floundered and languished.  ;-)

I would assume at some point super rich people get tired of forking over hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars annually with basically 0 ROI. 

I guess if you're program has some people with billions. 

But rich people usually don't get there by handing money out with no chance of a return.

Donors aren’t a finite resource.  New donors pop up every year.  Some will get burned but new ones will get involved.  And the schools who spend it wisely will get a ROI and keep the price high as they bid against each other.

But the donor has no ROI. I guess there's a lot of rich people out there, but it can't go on forever when there is no chance of a monetary return on the investment.

Watch Mark Cuban getting access to the IU football team during a NC run and tell me he got no ROI.  
 

For him dropping a few millions to have the time of his life with the team is like you or I spending a couple thousand to take the family to Disney.  It’s about the experience not the ROI.  It’s not an investment it’s entertainment

Nine seems like fiction. Say they gave Flory everything he wanted at $5mil. You’re telling me they spent 4 on Shelstad. That seems like about double what everyone else says the market is.
