Democrats aren’t cheering for failure. This administration doesn’t need any encouragement

You sure about that? They believe Trump failing is victory for them. When it’s actually just failure for everyone in the US.

Yea because people are stupid enough to not understand what he said. People were eating tide pods at one point. Hell someone even drank fish tank cleaner.

Exactly! So it’s best the person everyone should be able to trust doesn’t say things on a whim that can be dangerous.

For me it's not about political party; there are so many fantastic public servants on both sides of the aisle, and a few less than savory characters from both parties. I tend to run pretty conservative with my policy preferences.

However, the biggest voice in the room, the ultimate leadership voice in the room, should choose his or her words very carefully. When it is a pandemic and there is medical information that needs to be imparted, those words should be chosen that much more carefully, and should be delivered by medical experts. Anything less than that, anything other than that, is incredibly poor judgment in my opinion.

You also added 'but the Democrats are cheering for failure.'  I'm just pointing out that's happening on both sides.

I don’t see anyone republicans wanting failure. They want this to pass as quickly as possible. Democrats know it can and will tank the economy. They consider that a win because it will make Trump look bad.

Lmfao ok... Trump says something. Anyone comes on and says that was pretty dumb, he shouldn’t do that. Next person runs in to say it’s the media twisting his words, making this political. Every time. Not once in a while. Not once a month. Every time. The dude can be wrong you know? It’s ok for people to point it out without the right jumping in every time. Can you imagine if Obama said what he said? Do you think you would be giving him leeway because he isn’t a good public speaker? No you would be burying him along with me. I would not be defending him because it was a very idiotic, stupid, dangerous, moronic thing that to say. That’s the difference between us. You think everyone that doesn’t agree with the President is a libtard, leftist, socialist that is somehow wronging you. I think they are both idiots and I want someone on either side to do the best job possible protecting me and making the economy strong. Not everything is a f’ing political point. You are the one making it into that trying to defend indefensible.

This. Isn’t it his fault if he continually gives the Democrats this much material? How is it the other sides fault? If the roles were reversed and he was a Dem I would fully expect the right to be going nuts. That’s kind of the way it’s been throughout history when you stray too far left or right and only play to your base. This isn’t a new thing... If the country elected Bernie Sanders I would expect the right to be as bad if not worse.

Passing quickly as possible means letting it kill  upwards of a million people. So yeah that sounds accurate.

Obama was a good public speaker. Very charismatic. He was the “hip” president. Kind of guy you wouldn’t care to go out drinking with probably. That was about it. I voted for Trump knowing he was terrible at getting words out. Because I didn’t take every little thing literally and could see what he was saying. I never said what he did say was smart, but I understood what he was trying to say. Maybe you should have more of an open mind yourself.

Exactly. He’s giving them material. Obama got criticized for a tan suit for a week....because they had nothing else to criticize.

Bush got criticized for trying to open a locked door for god knows how long because despite his reputation new material wasn’t constant.

Trump provides new wtf material every day.

Bush was constantly put down as stupid, which he wasn’t. Trumps is just crappy “journalism” per much 90% of the time. It’s really just the same crap over and over because National cable news is ran by the left and it’s all just a joke. It’s just entertainment and ratings seeking without any real content. And that goes for Fox News too. It’s all hot garbage. If any of them actually reported on real news, there’d hardly be any for them. But it’s more or less just a political ESPN by now. Just crappy talk panels one after another. Trump is their LeBron and they know how to get their ratings. You shouldn’t actually take any of them seriously. They all have an open agenda.

I think most would agree with this, but you are saying that it is the medias fault for reporting on things that he actually said. WHen pressed on that you said that people don't actually understand what he means. SO what is it? Is the the media's fault for reporting on what he is saying? Or is it the public's fault for taking everything he says literally? Notice that your logic circumvents the actual source of the quote, which is what started this conversation.

History will be kind to George W Bush.

A high-quality human being who knew his strengths, learned and improved, and relied on others to compliment his limitations. His second term was excellent in my opinion.

Yep. Still wish he could have gotten Immigration reform done. But when members of the party became hardliners and refused it ended any chance of that happening.

History i think will put him, Clinton and Obama on a similar level. They are presided over a period where partisan divides hampered real leadership. Neutering good they tried and exemplifying failures.

Lmao open mind? Dude the things he is saying are dangerous. I am not going to have an open mind at what he is saying when it pertains to things I know are horrible and that no American President independent of party should say. This has nothing to do with him being muzzled. It has everything to do with what the Presidency stands for when it comes to processes and decorum. I have zero respect for him when it comes to those two things. So as a moderate right leaning voter, no I will not have an open mind and it is my American duty to judge him on the job he is doing. Not guess what he was trying to say or what I wanted to hear because I voted for him. FYI I did vote for him. So I think I had a pretty open mind initially.

I read an article on him a few years ago from a guy that was by his side a lot. Said he kind of put on the folky attitude to relate with the people. Said he was incredibly intelligent. Obviously he had plenty of jokes coming his way and that’s fine. I didn’t see much of it to be mean spirited and that’s what comedy is really about. And he got a bit of the “stooge” treatment.” He also got about the biggest curveball you could get early on as a president with 9/11. And still had many great moments. The strike he threw for the first pitch was beautiful. When he had a show thrown at him was pretty funny.

He responded to criticism with grace. He knew that even the top of the top of the heap can learn and improve.
