mamasa Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Really want to see Penn open it up. She was just so off Saturday (pace and demeanor). Hope Wise has a monster game. This one won't be easy Quote

LamarCheeks Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Definitely rooting for my Hoosiers today, but I will say this: I have a TON of respect for Vivian Stringer. A very classy lady. mamasa 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 Penn just scored her 1,000th point, the 27th IUWBB to do so. thebigweave, JaybobHoosier, HoosierAloha and 2 others 5 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 Halftime and we have a 25-23 lead. Good thing Rutgers isn't shooting any better because they're absolutely killing us on the boards 24-13 and 10 of theirs are off their own basket. Wise and Berger 6 pts each; Patberg 5. 4 Hoosiers with 3 rebounds apiece. Only shot 37.5% but Rutgers only 32%. Sloppy play from both teams as Rutgers with 12 TOs and we have 9. Need to play a much stronger second half. HoosierAloha, thebigweave, JaybobHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 Gut check time. IU lead down to 7 with under 3 min. left. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Is there not a cylinder rule in women’s basketball? Surprised the Big Ten hasn’t called us on elbows. Finish them off ladies! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote
LamarCheeks Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Damn! Shot clock violation. ... Waited too long ... Gotta make your move with about 10 seconds to go. HoosierAloha and Class of '66 Old Fart 2 Quote

HoosierAloha Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Great help side defense by Berger!Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote
JSHoosier Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Rutgers dialed up the pressure defensively and the ladies haven't responded well. Berger had a big help side block on what would've been a wide open layup. Quote
LamarCheeks Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Excellent defense. ... And smart decision to eat more clock. ... This goes in the books as a "W." Quote
JSHoosier Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Wise held firm on defense there. LamarCheeks 1 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Just now, JSHoosier said: Wise held firm on defense there. Even though the Rutgers player just fell on her own, I'm sorta surprised there was not a foul called. That's a play where officials usually just anticipate contact and even though there is none, will call a foul ... They did a good job there, too. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Great win, ladies! HoosierAloha 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 Hoosiers hang on for a 66-56 win. Huge block by Berger with 35 sec. left then 2 huge FTs by Gulbe with 31 sec. left followed by a Berger steal which sealed the victory. B1G road wins are so important and to give Rutgers just their second loss of the season and in their gym is really important. Penn 14 pts; Berger 13; Holmes, Gulbe & Patberg 10. Penn & Berger 7 reb each. Patberg 4 assists; Penn and Berger 3 each. I couldn't watch the entire game so I don't know if Rutgers just had an off night shooting or it was our defensive pressure but Rutgers only 34% FG and 1-14 on 3s. Their leading scorer bettered her average but we shut everyone else down. What a way to end 2019. HoosierAloha, LamarCheeks, thebigweave and 2 others 5 Quote
Aaron Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Really nice road win against a probable tourney team on road that shows this team is a legitimate Big Ten title contender. We blew this game last year but closed it out this year really well which shows where we are at. Instead of fighting to get in tourney which is a lock we are fighting to host games as a top 4 seeds. johnsoniu and jk34 2 Quote
