I am a little curious how Minnesota moves up 12 spots after beating MSU but we only moved up 2 spots after beating Purdue. 

To answer your question, one, there are a lot more teams packed closer together in rating values where Minnesota is at compared to where IU is ranked. And two, Minnesota was supposed to lose to MSU by  more points than we were supposed to lose to Purdue, so there is a bigger rating adjustment in Minnesota’s case.

Tbf, the NET is pretty stupid and nobody would pay attention to it if the morons at the NCAA didn’t use it.

But they do.   They are the ones that came up with it to replace RPI.   Nobody pays attention to RPI anymore even though it’s still active and when they day comes that the ncaa replaces the NET then you are correct it will be forgotten like the RPI and everyone will pay attention to whatever the new metric will be

IU would be 52nd in the RPI is they still used that today

Not many people talk about WAB because it’s so new — but last year it was the single best metric to determine which teams made the tourney.

That is correct.  The only team above the WAB at-large "cut line" that didn't get in was West Virginia.  They dipped down and took Xavier instead.

Putting North Carolina in over West Virginia still bothers me.   West Virginia was 6-11 in Q1 games with neutral court wins over Arizona and Gonzaga at full strength however even after Tucker was out for the year they still beat Iowa St at home and won on the road at Kansas down 2 starters.    I didn’t even have West Virginia on the bubble.   If DeVries is close to the cut line they should put him in just for the screw job they did on him last year

Massive game for IU today.   Home game against a projected tourney team that is higher than IU on the seed list.   Solid Q2 game.  Win and move up the seed line or lose and fall down the seed line closer to the cut line.   Interesting enough for Lunardi Wisky is 35 on his true seed list and IU is 36.

Interesting thing I forgot about is the Acc dropped from a 20 game conference schedule to a 18 game schedule meaning that each team doesn’t play every conference team in a season.   For example Miami will not play Duke this year during the regular season.  Lucas doesn’t have to play against his former team.

Gotta assume that’s good for us. A loss wouldn’t hurt them but a win would have been massive

Miami really hasn’t won any games against tourney quality teams yet.  All their Q1 wins are road wins against non tourney teams.   Miami has a good record but not much in it yet.   Massive couple weeks coming up where they get multiple tourney quality teams to play.   Yeah they kind of needed a Duke game just to have an opportunity

Is there any teams IU fans should keep an eye on as far as IU making the tourney? Anybody that we beat or lost to, or a team that is making a late push to get in?

Too early for that in my opinion.    Needs to get closer to March before that comes into play.    IU has a nice cushion for now and doesn’t need to worry about other teams for now.   Win their home games and they are solid

The way things are looking right now, beating Ohio State would be huge. Some teams to keep an eye on are Miami FL, Missouri, California, Texas, and New Mexico. But there’s still a lot of ball to be played. That could all change.
